You sound like an inspirational doofus.

Yeah, but I'm serious.

THE FIVE KIDS WATCHED Will and Joyce leave the school from the front steps. The kids stayed quiet as they watched the car start up and drive away.

"Okay, that totally freaked me out." Max finally spoke up, breaking the silence. "Did that not freak you guys out?" She turned to the four who all looked lost in thought.

"Two episodes in two days." Lucas said, not acknowledging Max. "It's getting worse. You think it's True Sight?" Lucas questioned.

"What's True Sight?" Max turned her attention to Lucas.

The kids around him gave him the look. "It's nothing." He lied.

Jayden brought her hands up to her head, cupping it. She dropped her backpack besides her and just held her head in her hands. Today had been too much. There were so many emotions being thrown onto her and it drained her both mentally and physically. She was tired.

Then she realized that Steve had left her and that hurt her even more. She just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry.

"We're gonna get going. You need a ride?" Mike offered Jayden.

She shook her head and looked up at him, using her hand to cover the sun that shined in her eyes. "No, I'll walk. I gotta breathe." She told her friend before standing up again and grabbing her backpack.

The girl watched her friends get on their bikes and ride off. That's when she heard a throat clear behind her. She turned to see Max standing their idly.

"Oh, shit. I'm sorry I thought you left." Jay apologized, beginning to walk down the steps with Max.

"No... my brother left me." She replied, following after the girl.

"Wanna walk together?" Jayden offered.

Max smiled. "Yeah, sure." She replied. The two girls then set off down the street. A little while later, when Max was about to split off from Jayden and turn onto Old Cherry Road, the Harrington girl spit out words that she didn't mean to spit out.
