CW:

Plot: George is a young boy who recently moved with his family. He's a pretty normal kid other than the fact that he's partially deaf. He can hear people if they yell, but needs hearing aids to hear them properly. Dream is a himbo that knows sign language, which is a skill his mother taught him when he was young. Something he never thought he would have to use until the cute British boy in his class's hearing aids run out of battery.

Third person POV.

"I'm so sorry, George!" The teacher at the front of the classroom says loudly, right next to the boy named George. "I don't know any sign language so I won't be able to help! Maybe one of your classmates can give you the notes!"

"Hey, miss?" Dream asks, wincing at the volume of their voice.

"Yeah, Dream?" The teacher asks as she turns to look at him.

"I know hand sign language and might be able to help?" Dream offers.

"Oh, that would be wonderful," The teacher says, a smile spreading across their face. "George! Dream is going to help sign to you so you can— y'know what, I'm just gonna let you tell him,"

Dream moves over to sit next to George signing: Hello, my name is Dream. Quickly, being able to sign the common phrase with ease.

Hey, my names George, I don't know why the teacher is insistent that you help me, I can read lips just fine. George responds, a small quirk of his lips. The teacher begins teaching again and within a few minutes George is nudging Dreams side.

How do you know sign? He asks.

My mother taught me when I was young because my grandmother was deaf. Dream explains.

How come you never came to talk to me in sign? George asks, his eye brows furrowed.

Dunno, never really worked up the courage, worried I would sign something wrong and you laugh at me. Dream explains with a shrug.

Don't worry, if you do I'll be sure to laugh as hard as possible. George tells him, an evil smile on his face.

How come your hearing aids aren't working? Dream asks, rolling his eyes at the previous sign.

I completely forgot to charge them last night and fell asleep with them in. George explains, a sheepish smile on his lips.

Idiot. Dream signs quickly with a small chuckle. The grin on his face making George's face warm, making small creases appear on his nose along with his returning smile.

Shut up, I was exhausted. George tells him before the teacher begins to talk.

"I hope you boys aren't just talking, and you're actually telling him what I'm saying," she says, seemingly picking up that the boys aren't giggling at what she's teaching.

"Of course, miss," Dream answers quickly, as he glances to George as he signs: we are absolutely not paying attention. Making the other boy let out a small giggle.

"Good, make sure to take some notes," the teacher says before she begins teaching once again.

Blatantly lying to a teacher, are we? George asks with a giggle.

Never. Dream says before he actually beginning to sign what the teacher says.
