CW: low key panicking/heartbreak (but it has a happy ending I swear)

Plot: Karl has been in love with Sapnap since they were ten. They're sixteen now and Sapnap starts dating the new girl in their class. Unbeknownst to Karl, his friend was trying to get over his crush on him.

(This story was very very loosely inspired by Taylor Swift's song 'You Belong With Me (Taylor's Version)' if you want to listen to it while you read or whatever)

Third Person POV.

Karl absentmindedly runs his hair through the sleeping Sapnap on his lap as he reads his book, careful not to move in case he wakes the sleeping boy. The stillness of the house making it a perfect environment for their hang out/nap time on the couch.

"Karl, would you like anything to drink, sweet heart?" Sapnap's mother asks quietly as she pokes her head around the corner, your southern accent a lot thicker than her son's.

"No, I'm alright thank you," Karl tells her sweetly.

Karl and Sapnap were almost always at one another's houses making it very comfortable to talk to the other's mother. The two teenagers were very rarely apart. Some people would call them clingy, but Karl wouldn't have it any other way.

"Okay, let me know if you need anything," she tells him before walking back down the hallway.

Karl looks down at the sleeping boy. He admires his thick yet shaped eye brows, the way his mouth parts when he sleeps, letting out soft snores. The way his hair falls perfectly around his forehead. He traces his finge gently along his sharp jawline. It's not creepy.

Sapnap's eyes flutter in his sleep as he rolls over, sitting up slowly. Karl jumps the smallest bit, feeling as though he's been caught doing something wrong. It isn't wrong to admire your best friend. While they sleep. Okay maybe it is, but—

"Your lap is so uncomfortable," Sapnap groans as he stretched making Karl roll his eyes. Groggy sleep laced in his tone as he grumbles, slumping back down.

"Maybe your head is just too big," Karl counters as he puts his book mark in. "You aren't even gonna apologise for falling asleep on me again?"

"Why would I do that?" Sapnap jokes as he settles back down next to Karl, his head resting on the taller boy's shoulder.

"You're terrible," Kar tells him.

"Yeah, yeah, you love me," Sapnap rolls his eyes as he wraps his arms around Karl's arm.

"Says who?" Karl asks, looking down at the smaller boy.

"Says you literally every five seconds," Sapnap tells him, looking up at Karl through his lashes. "You're like in love with me,"

"You wish," Karl scoffs. A lump forming in his throat at the sight and his words.

"Maybe I do!" Sapnap jokes.

"But I didn't do it!" Sapnap complains. "Please! Just one more time,"

"You said that the last four times," Karl points out. "You should have done it at home. That's kinda why it's called home work,"

"Yeah! But you're the reason I was distracted and didn't have time to do it," Sapnap whines him as they walk into the classroom, sitting down at their shared table.

"You've had this home work all week!" Karl tells him.

"And you were at my house every single day of this week," Sapnap points out, making Karl roll his eyes.

"You could have done it after I left," Karl counters.

"Not yesterday!" Sapnap says, pointing at Karl accusingly. "You slept over! I was actually going to do it yesterday, but then you ended up staying the night,"
