------------------

You sipped gently on your piping hot coffee, letting the steam roll over your glasses. Grumbling, you took them off to wipe at the lenses. It was around 9:00 in the morning, so it was still a little chilly. Beside you, Dimitri was rambling about something.

"And so that's how I managed to beat that level- Not a lot of people know that strategy, and it's kind of underground but I could teach you if you-- Hey, a-are you even listening?" Dimitri sat holding his boots together with his hands. He was rocking back and forth as he spoke, but he had stopped when he noticed you were cleaning your glasses. You were both sitting together in the grass of the town's big park; it was a regular meeting spot for when you two had some video games to discuss. The park was situated in the middle of two long strips of stores that framed two roads. The town was definitely not city-large, but cars were flying through town to head to the city on the other side... Where something big had just opened.

"Yeah, I was, don't worry," You pushed your glasses back onto your face with a nod, "I just forget how that is supposed to segway into the news you wanted to tell me?" Dimitri had invited you to this park via text, having absolutely destroyed his keyboard in excitement. He said he had something really important to tell you, and the only thing you could possibly guess is this hopeless romantic got a boyfriend or something.

Dimitri took a breath, "Oh yeah! Th-The news! It uh... Unfortunately isn't any relationship updates," He stared to the side, at a particularly interesting blade of grass, "But I was wondering if you could do me a favor...? It's kind of a big favor though." His blue eyes snapped back to you, causing your brows to furrow. "You're not asking me to date you, are you?"

"AAHBABAB! NO!" He practically jumped out of his own skin, waving his hands innocently, "N-Not at all, man!" The guess wasn't far-fetched for someone like Dimi.

"I'm sure you've heard about the, ah... Mega Pizzaplex? That mall that those real sketchy people opened, right?" He said quickly, "Terrible opener, I know! But I was wondering if maybe you'd take my suggestion to try and land a job there? It pays super duper good, from what I've heard!" Dimi settled back down into his spot of pushed-down grass, eyeing you expectantly. You were mulling over the idea when it hit you, "Whhyyy? Why's this a favor?"

"Well, I've heard the AI of their new animatronics is like... super advanced! Like they have their own personalities and make their own choices! My mom would never-ever let me work somewhere like that, so I wanted to see if maybe you could go in and learn about their AI!"

"You're telling me you want me to go in, and just learn about their AI for you? What if I'm not allowed to talk about it with how sketchy that damn company is." You bit your lip in contemplation, but Dimitri had a counter argument ready for your exact response. You weren't the easiest to bargain with, after all, "Well.... I'm your best bud in the entire world, surely you could bend the rules a little bit? Just for me? In secret?"

You looked at him, then down again, adjusting your glasses. Pay was good, you get to hang out with some cool robots, and it wasn't like you had anything else particularly exciting going on in your life. Living out of town, working minimum wage, single, there honestly wasn't much you could lose.

"B-But uhm, of course.... You could lose everything if you get caught." Ah. So that was the catch.

You shrugged, "That stupid Inconvenience Store on the corner doesn't exactly have people to lose, so if I did get fired I'm sure they'd take me back... Besides, I'm still gonna do art commissions on the side, if I even accepted for the job." You set your coffee down between your legs, leaning back on your hands. Only in patches was the park's grass even beginning to turn crusty, or brown. Fall was on it's way, but not quite here yet. Maybe that's why Dimitri had opted to sitting in the grass over just a picnic table. It brought you back to childhood...

Dimitri's eyes lit up, cutting through your thoughts, "So, you're gonna apply!?" You almost began to regret the predetermined decision, but looking at Dimitri practically beg with his hands up to his chin... It was hard to take it back now. "Yeah, I guess so. But I'm probably only gonna end up as like a janitor or something."

"Oh whaat-ever, you're super talented!" He began, making your cheeks flush lightly, "If they'd even put you in a low job position, they'll probably have you paint cool decals all over the place!!" He seemed even more excited than you were. Although the idea of working at that place had never crossed your mind, Freddy Fazbear and his friends weren't an attraction you weren't familiar with. You sat back up, grabbing your coffee out of its nest of grass to take another sip, trying to hide your embarrassment from Dimi's compliments.

At times it was hard to tell if he was flirting with you or just being friendly. You chopped it up to the second option, for the most part. "Okay... Okay. I'll throw my resume to the wolves tonight, alright? We can meet up here every Friday to go over any news, if I land the job."

Dimitri bounced, "Alright! Sounds like a plan!!"
