"We did it, Sunshine!" Sun threw his hands above his head, you followed suit with a cheer of glee. "We did it!"
The last puzzle piece had finally been slid into place. The large puzzle took up the entire play table, revealing a beautiful scene of a London-Esque city. Front and center was a tall, rustic clock tower with the arms striking at 12 o'clock. It was a nice looking scene with colorful clouds floating in the air behind the tower.
You both stared down at the scene for many moments, but you were first to speak. "Well, you did more than me..." Sun perked up, rays spinning, "As flattering as that is, Sunshine... It didn't do much more than you! You were very, very helpful!"
You smiled as he grinned, "Moony will be very, very, very happy to know we finished the puzzle! I bet he will really enjoy this scene..." Sun smiled down at the puzzle as he traced his fingers along the grooves each piece made. The more he traced, the more satisfied with the piece he became.
"What should we get up to now, Sunshine?" He tilted his head when you rubbed your chin. With this puzzle finally completed, there really wasn't much else to do. Maybe play a few games or draw, but things were starting to feel repetitive. As much as you loved routine, it was far too boring in this daycare.
"How about we go back down? Maybe we can find something to do... Crafts, maybe?" You pressed a hand to your knee as you rose to your feet. Sun followed you as you made your way up onto the balcony.
"Oh! Yes, of course!! I'd love, love, love, love to do some crafts with you! Maybe I could watch you draw?" You shrugged, humoring the idea. "Yeah, maybe."
Without a word, Sun scooped you up and called his tether. He soared over the ball pit, and down near the area where cubbies and tables were all about. The second your feet hit the mats, you were off to retrieve the basket full of printer paper. Sun was close behind, plucking up crayons of each color before prancing to a table to settle himself down again. You dropped the basket of printer paper onto the yellow table, but felt too stiff to sit.
"Gh... We've been sitting forever." You whined, pulling your hands behind yourself to pop your back. It let out an embarrassingly loud chorus of cracks. Then there was a smaller, single one.
Two pieces of a red crayon hit the table. "S-Sunshine!?"
"What!?" You jerked, unsure of his sudden startle.
"A-Are you okay Sunshine!?" As quick as he sat, he was up again. "Oh! No, no, no, no!! Are you b-broken!?" Sun warbled, his rays retracting half way. You took a step back, raising your hands in surrender.
"No, no! I'm fine, Sun! Nothing's broken, I'm not hurt!" You tried to explain but no matter what, Sun seemed concerned. He was running circles around you checking for abnormalities as he scanned.
"Th-Then what on Earth was that noise!?"
You giggled a little. "My back popping, hun. I'm an artist, I have horrendous posture..." You let your shoulders relax, and found yourself slumping. Sun stopped his frantic jogging to grab you by either of your cheeks. He lifted you upright, practically pulling you off the ground.
He shook his head, bringing your chin to brush against his chest as he scolded you. "No, no, no good, Sunshine! That was a terrible, terrible noise! I thought you were so, so, so hurt! You need to work on your posture!!" If he had cheeks to truly puff, he would've. Your eyes fell away from his, staring off at the tables around the two of you.
