Chapter 6

Ecriner Town Act 1

I went to my room to read the letter and to also prepare for my hangout event with Sistine in Ecriner town. I sat down on my comfy bed and carefully opened the letter. It looked old but then I remembered that papers in this world are very old compared to the ones in my previous life. As I opened the letter, a thought came to my mind. This letter might've been written in advance before they even left.

No... I need to stop thinking like this. I just need to read the letter and maybe some of my questions will be answered. Easier said than done. Why am I feeling uneasy all of a sudden? Am I nervous? Why am I nervous? Could it be that I'm gay? Ok, that's enough.

I opened the letter and read it.

Dear Andrew,

Happy Birthday, Andrew!, I hope that you're doing well living in the manor. Both I and your father are very sorry for suddenly disappearing like that. I also apologize for not being able to attend your birthday. We promise we'll make it up to you.

Living in the manor is quite different from our old house. The people there in the manor are all amazing. Maria can be quite strict at times but she has a good heart. As for my father, well, I'm sure you've already figured out how much he likes to keep to himself. It's his way of protecting those precious to him even though he doesn't show it too often.

Your father and I are currently doing well. You're probably wondering where we are and when we can see each other. Unfortunately, I can't tell you either in case this letter gets intercepted. As for when we can see each other, I'm not sure. But we are going to see each other again sometime in the future. You could count on that.

I'm sure you already know that I'm not much of an adventurer. I'm mostly a liability to everyone, especially to your father. But this is what he signed up for when he married me so that's his problem.

At the time I'm writing this letter, your father is actually not here with me right now. He's currently out practicing his sword skills. He told me to say hello on his behalf as he doesn't like writing letters. You could say your father is bad at it and if you want to know just how bad he is, there's always Maria to tell you. I still want him to leave a little message at the end for our oddly cute son. Now that I think about it, it's been a while since I last wrote a letter so the formatting may be a bit off.

I should probably end the letter soon so your father could have a little bit of room when he writes. Oh, I almost forgot. Please don't make Tina suffer that much. Despite how she looks, she's quite knowledgeable in her profession. I honestly underestimated her when she first came with us. She helped us a lot and I'm not sure how to repay her for taking good care of our oddly cute son. Please thank her for me Andrew, we'd appreciate it.

Anyways this should be it for me, I have to force your father to leave a message. Remember, don't make Tina suffer that much. And most importantly, remember that we'll always love you Andrew, our oddly cute son.

Hey kid, I hope you're doing well. If you have the time, request a wooden sword from your weird and serious grandpa. Don't tell him I said that by the way. Try it out and start practicing so when we meet each other we could spar. Your mother has already written a lot so I'll just end it here.

I gave the letter to your mother and she smacked me in the head for writing too little. So now here I am making it look like I'm writing a lot. Happy Birthday by the way, can't believe I forgot that this was supposed to be a birthday letter. Forgive your old man for forgetting. I've been a little bit busy recently.
