Three Worlds Collide

Chapter Eighteen

It has been a few days since Steve and I were saved by Eddie, his return has brought up a lot of emotions between the three of us. Also a few more things were revealed about Eddie since his return, besides his ability to control some of Vecna’s demobats, he also has the ability to turn into a small, fluffy, brown bat. I cried about how adorable he was the first time he showed Steve and I, but today is the day we reveal to the others his return. Eddie nervously paces back and forth in front of Steve and I, “What if I scare them?”, he asks us, his now permanent golden eyes stare between the pair of us. 

“They won’t be, they’ll be relieved to know you are back.”, I assure him, I place myself in the path of his pacing to stop him. I bring my hand up to cup his cheek gently, “If they say anything negative, I will kick them out. Steve will too, you are our love Eds, and no one will change that or come between us.”, I add, he smiles at me softly. Steve places himself beside me, placing his hand on Eddie’s other cheek, his eyes looking between us both, “I won’t let anything or anyone come between us, we won’t lose you again Eddie.”, he tells the long haired metal head. Eddie nods gently, Steve leans his head forward to press his forehead against Eddie’s, they smile at one another lovingly, the sight makes my heart melt, Steve and I finally feel complete once more with Eddie back.

We are interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing downstairs, the others have arrived to go over what we have witnessed at the gate. Hopper wants details as to why something came through the gate now after all these months of inactivity. We pull away from each other, “Wait here for a moment Eddie Bear.”, I tell him, his eyes convey every bit of love for me at the sound of the nickname he hasn’t heard in months. He nods in response before Steve and I leave him to go downstairs to let the group in, we have no idea he is listening in on us from upstairs. We came up with the idea of revealing himself to the others in a weird way.

I am giving details to Hopper as the others listen in, there is a soft flapping of wings before a fluff ball of a bat comes swooping down the stairs. I feel a warm ball of fluffiness land upon my shoulder, everyone’s eyes widen at the spectacle. “Another one?”, Robin asks, the difference between this bat and the demobat is clear to everyone. I smile softly and turn my face towards the brown mass perched on my left shoulder, “Not necessarily.”, I comment. Everyone’s expressions turn to confusion, “I almost didn’t survive the demogorgon that came through the gate.”, I tell them. Their confusion becomes more apparent at my words, I hold my hand out towards the bat upon my shoulder, he hops into my palm. 

I set him gently onto the floor in the middle of the living room, “It’s okay darlin, you can show them now.”, I coo gently at Eddie in his bat form. He chitters nervously at me, “It’ll be okay, remember what Steve and I said.”, I state with a small smile. “He’s the reason Steve and I made it out of there alive.”, I tell the group once I stand up from my crouching to look at them. Loud gasps fill the room before I feel Eddie step up beside me, “He came back.”, I finally say. Everything in the room is silent except for the soft ticking of the clock on the wall behind me, that is until a loud sob breaks the silence. 

Dustin is up onto his feet in a flash, he crosses the room at breakneck speed. Tears fill my eyes as I watch him throw his arms around Eddie’s torso, the young teen buries his face into his friend’s chest as sobs shake his body. Eddie doesn’t hesitate to hug his young friend back, “H…How?”, Nancy asks through tears. Everyone in the room is in different states of shock, awe, and tears, I wipe my eyes and shrug, “No idea, you’ll have to ask Eddie.”, I tell her. Once everyone is settled after the initial shock of Eddie coming back and appearing out of his bat form, he stands before everyone to explain what has taken place over the past few months.
