Jamie and Eddie: Best Friends Until the End

Chapter Four: The Acadmey

     It was the end of August now and summer was over. Jamie was all packed and ready for police Academy. Eddie was still missing. Jamie and his school friends had gotten together one last time to search for her, but had no luck. They searched for an entire twenty four hours. It's been over three months now.

"ready to roll?" Jamie's Mom said
"yea I'm ready" Jamie said
They drove for about two hours to get to Jamie's school. Henry, Danny and Erin had also come with them to say one final goodbye.
"you be good kid" Henry said
"I will... and please keep me updated, about Eddie" Jamie said
"don't worry kid we will. You'll be the first to know anything and if we find her, she can call you first. Just try to have fun okay?" Danny said
Everyone hugged Jamie goodbye and when he was left alone was when his heart ached. He knew he and Eddie weren't allowed to be roommates as they kept genders separate but he was still excited about being in class with her, training with her and eating meals and working out with her.
      Jamie had been unpacking his stuff when another kid came in. This must be his new room mate
"you Jameson Reagan?" the kid asked
"yea who are you?" Jamie asked
"I'm your room mate. Vinnie Cruz" Vinnie said
"well I'm Jamie" Jamie said as he was sitting his stuff on the night stand
"nice photo. That your girlfriend?" Vinnie asked noticing the photo of Eddie
"uh no, we've been best friends since we were kids. She was supposed to come here with me but... she's missing" Jamie said
"oh damn, I'm sorry man. For how long?" Vinnie asked
"three months. She was taken outside of her apartment a week before we graduated High School" Jamie said
"I'm so sorry" Vinnie said
"yea it's been rough" Jamie said
"my Dad's the police commissioner though so I know he's doing everything he can" Jamie said
"thats good... anyway I think this place is gonna be pretty sick don't you?" Vinnie asked
"yea hopefully. I'm excited" Jamie said
"I think orientation is in a few hours" Vinnie said
"wanna grab some lunch?" Vinnie asked
"sure" Jamie said
       Jamie didn't really want to go and be friendly but Vinnie seemed like an okay guy so he went.
"so what got you into law enforcement?" Vinnie asked
"my whole families in law enforcement" Jamie said
"my sisters a DA, and my brothers a detective. I had a brother named Joe, he was a cop but he was killed in the line of duty" Jamie said
"sorry about your brother" Vinnie said
"yea it was hard..." Jamie said
"I'm hoping maybe once I become a cop I'll be able to find my friend" Jamie said
"how long has she been missing?" Vinnie asked
"three months. She was taken a week before our High School graduation" Jamie said
"her Dad was just recently arrested, I've tried to get the cops to look into connections but they won't listen to me" Jamie said
"how long were you two friends?" he asked
"It's been forever... maybe ten years or more? I met her in second grade. At first she hated me. She was this tough little kid from the city" Jamie smiled, remembering his first time meeting Eddie
"it took a little while but we became inseparable. My family treated her like family" Jamie said
"I wish I had a best friend like that. I've had girlfriends on and off. What about you? Date anyone special?" Vinnie asked
"not yet, I've dated but no one special" Jamie said
"you never dated your friend? Not even to just try it out?" he asked
"we never thought about it honestly. I mean, we were just good friends. She dated all through High School but nothing serious" Jamie said

After they finished lunch they stayed and talked for a little while longer and then orientation was around three that afternoon. Jamie went into the big gymnasium where you had to grab a packet with your name on it
"Jameson Reagan" Jamie said
"I've got you right here Mr. Reagan" she said
"I'm sure the office knows but umm... Edit Janko won't be here. She was kidnapped and has been missing for thee months now" Jamie said
"thanks for letting me know" she said

It was the first day of training and it was just to get everyone recruited. They all had to report to the gymnasium at eight am. They started lining up the you g recruits.
"alright everyone fall in! We need to do this quickly. Everyone line up shortest to tallest" the training sgt said
"shortest to tallest!" he yelled
        Jamie quickly found a place in line as about fifty recruits line up. He was in the middle. He wasn't the shortest, but he wasn't the tallest either. He was around five foot nine.
"This is our job to prepare you these next eight months. If anyone feels this is not the right place for them, speak out now! We don't want to waist your time, or ours!" A sergeant yelled
"all we want to do today is show us some general push ups, squats, and then just have you run around the building. Every time you run around you'll yell how many times you went around" the sergeant said
"any questions?" he asked
"no sir!" they all said
"good get to work! Find your own space and an officer will assist you" he said
        Jamie found a space in the corner where he started doing push up.
"Reagan right?" an officer said
"yes sir!" Jamie said
"you think you're fit for this job Reagan?" he asked
"Yes sir" Jamie said as he continued doing push ups
"count out loud. I want to hear you reach twenty!" he said
"yes sir" Jamie said
"one sir" he said
"two sir" Jamie said
"louder! I can't hear you" the officer said
"three sir!!" Jamie yelled
"four sir!!!" Jamie yelled
"good. Keep going Reagan" he said
       Jamie finally made it to twenty. He continued with another twenty sit ups, and then squats. After half hour of warming up, they took the recruits outside to run. It was mid August so it was already hot out. Jamie had on his uniform which was tan pants and a white tshirt.They all ran around the building about ten times.    
         Everyone was exhausted. It was now lunch time, and they all headed to the cafeteria to eat. Jamie got a salad and half a sandwhich, and he found Vinnie and sat down.
"damn that was brutal" Vinnie said
"yea but good though. I've always liked a good work out" Jamie said
"wonder what they have planned for after lunch" Vinnie said

       After lunch they cleaned up the cafeteria and headed back to the gym where they got some basic training on how to hold a gun, a taser and a few other basic weapons police use every day.
"now I am assuming most of you have done some basic gun training. Now you'll learn how to properly hold a gun, and do some basic shooting at a target" a sergeant said
All thirty some recruits got handed a gun and a pair of headphones.
"now everyone will have an officer every three people in between the lines. Start to pick up your weapon, and if you're doing it correctly the officer will let you keep going. If you need assistance you will get it. Once you load your gun start shooting at the target" he said
Jamie already knew how to load and shoot as his father had taken him on several training sessions before hand and to a shooting range
"good job Reagan" the officer said after he got the gun loaded
"thank you sir" Jamie said as he put his headphones on
Jamie began shooting and took about twenty shots at the dummy target. He almost hit the target every time except for maybe two
"Nice shot Reagan. You can be done for today" the training sergeant said
"thank you sir!" Jamie said
After Jamie took his gun back apart and put everything away, he headed off to his dorm to get a clean pair of clothes and then went to the showers. Once he had taken a shower he went back to his room where he cooked himself a frozen dinner and waited for Vinnie.
The two went to sleep around ten that evening after staying up to watch some tv. It was a good first day. Jamie definitely was happy to be there. He just wished Eddie was there too.

It had been at least three months since Eddie was kidnapped. Jamie had to be off at the academy by now. She wanted to be there so bad. They had each done their fair share of gym training starting that spring and had planned to go to the gym together every day up until they left. They both also ran together every day after school. Eddie was trying to get used to her reality. Her ankle was swollen and cut from the chain. She tried to pull and pick at it, hoping to loosen it but she never had any luck.
Her kidnapper was her only company. At first she hated talking to him but she was so lonely she needed to talk to someone. She tried to ask him about his job, but he said he was unemployed. She told him about her dreams of becoming a cop, and he laughed and said she was useless and stupid. She told him stories about her and Jamie. He checked on her about three times a day. Every time he saw her, he assaulted her. He usually only fed her once at the end of the day, and sometimes bit at all. She tried to imagine herself somewhere else when he was assaulting her. She closed her eyes and took her mind elsewhere. Every night she went to sleep thinking of Jamie. She thought about the good time they'd have at the academy.

(Anything regarding to the police academy was researched. Every Academy is different in every state etc but they all said they just do basic training the first day, like push ups etc. and lots of running)
