~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been about year now since Eddie had been kidnapped. Every day she was assaulted, starved and bored out of her mind. Her body ached most of the time. For the first six months an old rusted chain was kept on her ankle. Finally she had been freed to move around the room, but after being so horribly beaten after the first time she had tried to escape- she never dared to try it again.
He had finally given her an old dirty tshirt she could wear right before winter along with a blanket and journal. The journal was almost full but every day she wrote in it. She tracked the number of times he assaulted her by using talley marks at the top of the page. The most a day would have was five, and the least was two.
She was usually fed every other day... once a day. Sometimes twice, but rarely. He usually gave her Mcdonalds or some type of junk food. On a good day, she'd get a burger and a drink. On a bad day, she got french fries or a piece of bred. She'd lost a lot of weight as well and was very weak. She still didn't know the man's name or why he took her other that it had something to do with her Dad who was in prison. When she was alone she would cry, but she tried not to most of the time.
Every day she still thought of Jamie and her Mom. She just wanted them to hold her. The thought of seeing them again is what was keeping her alive. The thought of Jamie's strong arms wrapped around her and her Mom's soft sweet voice comforting her. She often thought about Jamie and how well he must be doing at the academy. She wanted to be there with him so bad.
Most of her days were spent drawing in her notebook. She usually wrote an entry to either Jamie or her Mom. She tried to tell them about her day, the best she could.."Dear Jamie-
I miss you. I think about you everyday... I miss your laugh, and your smile. I miss your arms around me. I just want you to hold me again... to tell me everything's gonna be okay. I often wonder if you're thinking of me as much as I think of you, or if you've forgotten about me as you're having too much fun at the academy.
Sometimes my heart hurts after I think about you for so long... I miss our time together, the endless hours we laughed and talked. You making fun of how much food I ate.
I woke up early with a bad headache. It finally went away. He only hurt me twice today... but it really hurt. I try not to cry anymore when he's doing it but sometimes I still do. It hurts after he leaves. I just curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep. I try to imagine I'm with you. I try to imagine something happy.
I miss you, and I love you. I hope you're happy wherever you are. Love you always... Eddie"Every journal entry she ended with her name and a heart. She had hoped that even if she died of starvation or if he killed her, someone could find her journal and give it to Jamie and her family. Eddie had finished writing and tried to just sleep. Sleep was her escape. Sometimes she would have nightmares, sometimes she wouldn't.
She had lost track of time after the first month. She had a clock on the wall finally but still didn't know what day or year it was. Hours were spent staring at nothing. She never imagined she would live her life like this. Scared, alone, starved and beaten. The man never said much when he would check on her. He basically checked on her to see if she was alive and to assault her. Whenever she heard the beeping of the key pad on the door she got stiff and tense, knowing what was coming.
"I got you some stuff" he said throwing it to her on the bed
Eddie went through the bag and there were only about three things in it but when you have nothing, the small things seem huge. It was another journal and pen and a bag of chips
"thank you, thank you!" she said
"you know how you can thank me" he said
"again? We... we... did it this morning" she said
"now I just gave you a nice gift. You don't want to thank me? Get your ass over here" he said
She slowly walked towards him and he lifted her shirt off and he groped her breasts
"get on the bed" he said
She laid back and tried to hold back tears as he undressed himself but she closed her eyes when he got on top of her. She always hated how he touched her. It just felt so uncomfortable. She tried to act like she liked it, just to get him to go faster. She closed her eyes tightly when he spread her legs. She tried not to cry.
After a while, her body went numb. It always felt like it lasted hours.
"please it hurts" she cried
"it hurts" she whimpered
"shut up" he said
She tried not to scream but her body was on fire. Her eyes were shut and she tried to think of her old life. Tears ran down her face.
"stop crying" he said
"stop crying you stupid bitch" he said as he slapped her
"I'm sorry, I don't know why it hurts so bad today" she said
"please... I... I'll do more tomorrow, just please stop... PLEASE!" she cried
Unable to take the pain, she cried out which earned her a hard smack
"don't you ever raise your voice at me" he said
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" she whimpered
"you better keep your promise if I stop" he said
"I will" she said
"just please" she begged
He finally stopped, he pulled out of her and got off the bed and she just laid there. Shaking and in tears. After he got dressed, he left her there. She let out a loud sob after her was gone and she tried to get up to find her shirt. Once she was dressed she laid back down and just tried to sleep.It was her first Christmas without her family or Jamie... and she only knew it was winter because the shed was freezing. He had given her a six inch Christmas tree with a few plastic ornaments on it and he gave her a new tshirt for Christmas. For her Christmas dinner she got one slice of ham and a bowl of corn. She had never been so thankful for food. She wrote to her Mom and Jamie that night in her journal
Dear Mom and Jamie-
I miss you both so much. I can't believe it's Christmas. He gave me a tiny Christmas tree and let me eat a piece of ham and some corn. Luckily he only did it once today... but it hurt.
I can't imagine what you two are going through without me. I hope you didn't give up, because I'm not. I'm trying to be strong. I just want to see you guys again.... sometimes I miss you both so bad it hurts. I break down and cry over nothing. I'm so lonely. I'd give anything to see you again, or hear your voices. I hope you're safe and happy. I love and miss you always. Merry Christmas.
Love, EddieAbout a week after Christmas she realized she was sick in the morning and she had missed her period. She was pregnant. She had confused thoughts about the whole thing. On one hand she was tired of being alone... but on the other hand this was no way to have a child or raise a child. The morning sickness usually lasted half the day. She spent most of her day bent over the sink.
When he came to check on her he noticed how she was more down then usual.
"what's with you today?" he asked
"I... I think I'm pregnant" Eddie said
"you're what!?" he yelled
"can... can I please keep it?" she asked
"can you keep it... meaning you raise a baby here? Risk having it cry or scream because you'd be such a horrible mother!?" he laughed
"please I'll keep him quiet"'she said
"if you really think you're pregnant, come here" he said
"I said GET OVER HERE!" he yelled
She shook as she took a few steps forward. He touched her stomach, and then he grabbed her wrist and threw her violently across the room
"OWWW! Ahhh" Eddie screamed
"please don't" Eddie cried
"AHHH! NOOO" She cried as he kicked her stomach
"AHHH! Please don't!" she cried
He gave her a few more kicks to the stomach before leaving the shed. She curled up in a ball and cried
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry" Eddie cried as she held her stomach
She laid there in tears as she knew she was going to miss-carry. She felt helpless.time jump... a year and a half later
Eddie was trying to get used to her reality. Her living hell. It has been almost two years now. She had been forced to miss-carry two more pregnancies. The one she just didn't tell him but when she got big enough to notice the bump- he was furious. Eddie had never felt so much pain. She swore he was going to kill her. It was clear he did not want children.
She tried to stay strong. She tried to think of Jamie and her old life. One day when he had been having a bad day, and like many of the times when he came to the shed he was high or drunk. He had assaulted her several times and beat her, taking his anger out on her. She just let him do it. She knew she was too weak to fight back. That was the only day she really wanted to die. She tried to end it but she heard Jamie's voice in the back of her mind telling her to keep fighting... so she did.Jamie couldn't believe it had been a year and half since his best friend was taken away. It was like the other piece of his heart was missing. Sometimes he could hear her crying back. He wanted to hold her. He wanted to tell her she was safe and loved. He couldn't imagine what she was going through every day.
He still hung posters every two to three months. He kept posting on social media... begging and pleading for someone to say something.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you. I'm so sorry!" he cried as he just stared at her photo
She looked so beautiful in the picture. Her blonde hair fell right below her shoulders and her bright blue eyes were sparkling along with her smile. She had on her favorite pink blouse and jeans. Eddie would be almost nineteen now.
Jamie went to sleep crying. He curled up in a ball, and cried himself to sleep- praying one day he'd find his best friend.THE END OF THIS CHAPTER
(Also I read online where police academy can be anywhere from 6-8 months. Eddie went missing in May before graduation, so when Police Academy started in August by the time it's over Eddie would've been missing almost a year)
