~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~It was graduation day again for Jamie. He had finished school at the police academy. It was a long eight month process. The training kept him busy most of the time. When he wasn't training however he was still thinking of his best friend from High School... Eddie Janko who had now been missing for about a year. Not a word from the police. Jamie would still make a posts on social media about her and he posted a video to her, hoping she would see it....
"Dear Eddie... I can't believe it's been a year. God I miss you so much. Wherever you are, I hope you know I haven't forgotten about you. I love you so much. Please keep fighting for me. I can't imagine the pain you're in. One day I will find you, and bring you home. I promise. I love you. Jamie"
He posted the old photos he had with her and they made him smile. Jamie always loved her bright blue eyes and vibrant smile and golden blonde hair.
"where are you Eddie? Where are you?" he said to himself as he stared at her photo
Jamie was just staring at the computer and was startled when the door opened
"Reagan you still aren't dressed? Graduation is in ten minutes" it was his girlfriend Dana
"it'll take me five" Jamie said
"It's been almost a year since Eddie's been gone" he said
"I know it's hard but stay strong" Dana said
Jamie had started dating Dana a few months before graduation. His room mate Vinnie had a girlfriend and was never there much and he missed Eddie so much he was just super lonely.
"how can I stay strong Dana? There hasn't been one lead... one clue... nothing! It's like she just disappeared. She's out there, I just have to find her" Jamie said
"I feel like the worlds shittiest friend for not searching harder" Jamie said
"hey what happened to Eddie isn't your fault. You are doing everything you can, so is your Dad.... plus wouldn't Eddie want you living your best life?" Dana asked
"I guess" Jamie said
"now get dressed Reagan. Now you have four minutes!!" she said
Jamie got dressed and met his family downstairs and they all drove together.
"I still can't believe Eddie's not here with us. That it's been this fucking long" Jamie said in the car
"language young man" Frank said
"I just... I need her okay? I can't do this without her anymore" Jamie said as his voice broke and he held back tears
"yes you can" Dana said
"no I can't! You don't know the half of what my family and hers has gone through over this time, You've been in my life for what? Five minutes? You don't even know Eddie or the friendship we had" Jamie said annoyed
"Jameson!" His mother Mary said
"it's okay Mrs. Reagan, I understand" Dana said
Jamie just tried not to cry as he stared out the window. Dana tried to hold his hand but he pulled it away. It was clear to Dana how much Jamie loved Eddie.As they arrived at graduation they took some family photos and Frank took some of Jamie with Dana. After they talked with a few friends, his family went to find their seats and Jamie lined up with his class as they all sat down. His Dad went with the staff and teachers as he was supposed to make a speech before they called everyone up.
Graduation last about two hours. Frank had given his speech to the new graduates and everyone went out for drinks except Jamie.
Dana stayed with him that evening and even tried to get Jamie to be intimate, but he just refused
"come on Jamie- it's graduation. It's time to celebrate, have fun. I want to be close to you right now" she said
She started to unbutton his shirt and kiss him but he pushed her away
"stop, Dana Stop!!" Jamie yelled
"why don't you ever want to have sex anymore? We had sex one time like six months ago" she said
"I'm just not in the mood... besides, if you don't like it you can leave" he said as he buttoned his shirt back up
"what? Are you breaking up with me!?" she asked
"yea I guess I am" he said
"but why? Is it Eddie? You're breaking up with me for some girl who may not even still be alive? I love you Jamie, I'm trying to be patient. I'm trying to show you I love you!" she said
"EDDIE'S ALIVE! Don't ever say that again!!" he yelled
Dana left in tears and Jamie just sat there. Eddie had to be alive. She had to be. Jamie tried not to cry, but he couldn't help it.Eddie couldn't believe she was still alive. Every day she fought and some days were harder then others. The man who had kidnapped her was still beating and assaulting her daily. She'd miss carried now too many times to count.
Some days recently he would leave her for days on end. She was never sure how much time actually past. She was glad he wasn't assaulting her 24/7, but sometimes the hunger pains got so bad she almost passed out. Her days were spent staring at the ceiling of the shed and writing in her journal. She must've had twenty of them by now. She also used the bags from the fast food to write on too. She still wrote to Jamie and her Mom every day.Jamie-
Congratulations boy scout! You must be done with the Academy by now. I bet you kicked ass. I can't wait to see how handsome you look in your uniform. I miss you so much. I wish I could join you to help celebrate. I love you always... EddieShe missed everything about the outside world. She missed the sun shining, she even missed the rain and the snow... she missed seeing her friends. She knew by now Jamie must've been done with the academy and he must be a cop by now. She knew he graduated top of his class since he was crazy smart. Maybe one day he would rescue her... she knew it was just a crazy fantasy. She tried to fall asleep and imagine what it would've been like had she had gotten to live the life she had dreamed about.
