Today was graduation and Jamie was supposed to be excited and happy... but he wasn't. All he could think about was Eddie. She had been missing for a week now. He knew by now that if she was alive she was being tortured daily. Her screams and cries often kept him awake at night. He'd see her scared face and try to help but- but he couldn't.
Jamie got dressed in his suit and then his cap and gown and looked at himself in the mirror.
"you look wonderful sweetheart" Jamie's Mom said as he came downstairs
"thanks Mom" he said
"now I know you're still thinking about your friend but try to be happy today okay?" she said
"she's out there Mom.... all alone, scared and hurt" Jamie said
"you know the police are doing everything they can" she said
"You have come so far Jameson, try to celebrate today okay?" she said
"you look good kid" his Dad Frank said
"thanks Dad... any news? On Eddie?" he asked
"no I'm sorry" Frank said

The car ride over was quiet except for some music and when they got to graduation and Jamie tried to act as normal as he could. They took some photo's of Jamie outside the school stadium and had some friends take some family photo's before going inside. Thank god no one asked or talked about Eddie much - as they knew Jamie and Eddie always came as a pair. As everyone took their seats l, the valedictorian spoke and then the principal began to call names in their class, Jamie just sat there. When they got to Eddie's name, his heart broke
"now as we all know we have someone missing today. A young lady named Edit Marie Janko was supposed to be among us. She still has earned and deserves this diploma so when she comes home or we find her, it's hers. She's a courageous brave young woman, wherever she may be" the principle said
Jamie was crying in his seat until it was his turn.
"I'm so sorry about Eddie. I know you two were super close" a girl said in the seat next to Jamie
Finally they called his name and Jamie stood up to walk across the stage
"Jameson Reagan" they said
Jamie's family stood up and clapped and cheered and took photo's of him walking across the stage. Even the principal knew he and Eddie were best friends so he hugged Jamie and gave him her diploma.
"keep staying strong kid, for Eddie" he said
"and congratulations" he said
"thanks" Jamie said as he held back tears
Jamie went back to his seat and sat slumped in the chair as they finished calling up about a hundred more kids. He just wanted to go home.

Everyone tried to get Jamie to go to the restaurant after but he just refused. It felt wrong celebrating when he knew Eddie was out there somewhere suffering. He went home and took a shower and changed into his boxers and a tank top and went to bed early. He kept Eddie's diploma in his desk and promised he'd give it to her along with the necklace he had bought her. It was a small diamond in a rose gold setting with matching ear rings. He went to bed and tried not to cry himself to sleep. He stared at her photo he kept of the two of them by his bedside. She looked so happy. She was hugging Jamie and smiling.

Another week had gone by. Now going on three weeks since Eddie had been missing. Police were still searching and Jamie was too. He had gone through her laptop and messages and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Her phone had been with her the night she was taken so that was still missing. It was Sunday evening, a week since Jamie's graduation.
The Reagan's had already planned a giant party to celebrate but they changed some of the banners since they had had them made to say "congratulations Jamie and Eddie".
They'd always treated Eddie like family since the day the two kids became inseparable.
Jamie got dressed in a nice polo and tan pants for the party. He was glad he got to see his friends and family before leaving for the police academy that fall. He spent the afternoon trying to laugh, talk and eat the food. He was happy on the outside- but he still missed Eddie.
One of Eddie's girlfriends was there, Hayley. She had been Eddie's only other friend throughout High School
"so I talked with Eddie's Mom the other day and she said Eddie had bought you this for graduation" Hayley said
"Eddie got me this?" Jamie asked as his voice broke accepting the gift
"Miss. Janko said she was going through Eddie's stuff and found it and said I could give it to you" she said
Jamie opened the gift and there was a hundred dollar visa card inside the card and she had gotten him a new leather wallet with his name engraved on it. Jamie choked back his tears as he read Eddie's hand writing
'Hey boy scout-- congratulations!!!! I'm so proud of you. I can't wait for the Academy this fall for us to go and kick some ass!! I love you. Eddie'
"thank you Hayley" Jamie said as he hugged her
"well it's from Eddie, not me" she said
"I've never seen a friendship like the two of you" she said
"I know she'll be okay. Eddie's a badass, and she's super strong" Hayley said
"I hope you're right Hayley..." Jamie said trying to smile

The party went on until around eleven that evening with a bon fire. Jamie was outside eating some toasted marshmallows with Hayley and some other friends. As people started to leave he hugged everyone goodbye and helped his parents clean up the food.
"thanks for everything guys" Jamie said
"I know it's not the same without Eddie here, and believe me we miss her more then anything.... but we are so proud of you son" Frank said
"thanks Dad" Jamie said
"I hope Eddie knows how much we love her... that we aren't giving up. I know she's probably so scared" Jamie said
"Jamie that girl knows you adored her. You two were inseparable" Frank said
"we'll find her Jamie, we promise" his sister Erin said
"you can't promise me that Erin... no one can" Jamie said as his heart sunk
"you have a good night okay? We'll see you in the morning" Jamie's Mom said
"thanks again for the party guys" Jamie said

Jamie went upstairs and he put the visa card from Eddie in his new wallet and he transferred his other cards to it.
"please come home" Jamie said as his heart ached looking at Eddie's photo
He took a quick shower and changed into his boxers and tank top and then went to bed. He stared at the ceiling for a while and tried to think of his good memories with Eddie. They'd only fought a few times through out the years but for the most part their friendship was solid. He fell asleep finally thinking of Eddie's smile and hearing her laugh. He just wanted to hear her laugh again.
