ONCE THE DOORS were opened, the Alpha King's ears were blasted by loud cheering and background music. The walls were soundproof to have blocked out this amount of noise.
A huge ring in the centre of the room first caught Darius' attention. Two bloodied men were already at each other's throats.
Two women came over and took a look at Samuel's seating card and thereafter led the two men to their table.
Wanting the best view of the match, the only option was to have a table in front of the ring, but Darius had to spend an insane amount of money for that table.
Once seated, Darius watched the match with half interest while he used the other half to look around. It looked exactly like every other fighting ring.
Some people were cheering for and booing at the fighters while some others were betting on who would win.
There were guards at every entrance and exit so Darius couldn't guess where the medical facility was. He guessed he would have to wait until a fighter was injured or died.
The Alpha King turned his attention back to the ring just in time to see a short man send a spinning kick to the back of his opponent's head, ending the match.
"Boring," Darius sighed, staring blankly at the short fighter who was now celebrating his victory.
After the fighters were escorted out, the announcer came in with a microphone in hand. Darius thought he looked funny with his black hair spiked up in different directions like he had just been electrocuted.
"What a fight that was, yeah?!" the announcer declared, and was rewarded by cheers from the audience.
"But that is not all. In just a few minutes, the underdog will be going up against our reigning undisputed champion, Mayhem!"
The audience broke into another round of cheers. Whosoever this Mayhem was, he seemed to be quite popular amongst the people.
The announcer soon stepped out of the ring and a tall man with a muscular yet slender physique bounced down the ramp.
He was the underdog. Darius watched as he jumped over the rope, landing perfectly in the middle of the ring. If this 'Mayhem' was as tough as Samuel described him to be then he would certainly feast on this underdog like a chew toy.
The underdog was followed by what looked like a human giant. He stood impressively at a height that was well over six feet tall, dressed in nothing but a pair of shorts and nothing else.
Even his feet were uncovered. Mayhem was easily the largest man Darius had ever seen. He looked like he would swat the underdog guy like a bug.
As if on cue with Darius' thoughts, the bell rang and Mayhem quickly moved first, clotheslining the underdog into the ground with a loud crash.
Without giving the smaller man a chance to recover, Mayhem picked him up and hung the man around his neck, putting him in a sleeper hold.
The underdog was quickly losing consciousness as he struggled but failed miserably to get away.
Mayhem let out a loud growl that would put the first security guard to shame, and fell back, letting the underdog crash first into the ground. And just like that, the underdog was out like a light.
The Alpha King chuckled.
Now, this was entertainment!
"And the winner is... Mayhem!" the announcer yelled from the side of the ring.
It looked like he was too afraid of Mayhem to enter the ring. The excited cheers from the people followed.
The announcer continued. "As usual, we like to give everyone a chance, so, is there anyone who would like to have a go out our Champion and stand a chance to win a sum of one million US dollars?"
"Should I go, Alpha?" Samuel asked.
Darius shook his head."No, I want to see for myself how strong this Mayhem actually is. "
"But, Alpha..." The Captain tried to argue but the King stopped him.
"Let it be, besides I also want to win back the money I spent for this ridiculously expensive table," Darius said, taking off his jacket and handing it to Samuel.
"I would like to have a go at your champion," The Alpha King said, then stood up and walked to the ring, fully aware of the eyes of everyone on him.
Climbing up to the ring, Darius stood by the side, leaning against the edge of the rope and rolling up the sleeves of the white shirt.
Mayhem came to stand face to face with Darius. Samuel was right, this fighter had no scent. Mayhem stared Darius down, obviously trying to scare him but failed miserably as Darius' blank stare did not waver.
When Mayhem saw that he failed to intimidate Darius, he moved back to the opposite side of the room, resigning to glare at Darius from a distance.
Then, the announcer walked up to Darius and asked for his name.
"Diviner."
The announcer went back to the middle of the ring.
"The last match for today would be between our Champion, Mayhem and the brave Diviner!"
The crowd erupted in more cheers and the announcer stepped out of the ring as the bell was rung.
Like before, Mayhem rushed at Darius first but Darius saw his intention before he moved, and stepped out of the way.
But to Darius' surprise, Mayhem halted immediately. He had passed his target and turned quickly, throwing a rapid blow to Darius who intercepted it with one of his own and sent Mayhem flying across the ring.
But recovering way too quickly, Mayhem flew at Darius who moved out of the way and once again, Mayhem was sent diving into the ground.
Once Mayhem stood up again, Darius observed him. He didn't look out of breath like a human that had just been running around.
To confirm what he was seeing, Darius listened to his opponent's breathing pattern to find that it was as steady as a person who was sleeping.
