IT WAS OBVIOUS to Ophelia that hiding behind Noriel was going to solve nothing.

From what she understood, the seal they demanded from Darius could put not just the capital but all the packs in the werewolf community under the hands of a vain and power-hungry man who cares nothing about the interest of the wolves.

She didn't know much about werewolves but she already felt a sense of responsibility for them. Still, the most important thing was keeping her child safe.

With that thought in mind, Ophelia stepped out from behind Noriel and stood in front of Prince Gabriel who gave her a smirk that he did nothing to hide his devious intentions.

Ophelia cleared her throat. "What do you intend to do to me?"

"Luna!" Noriel said sternly.

"Let it be, Noriel!" Ophelia replied in the same tone. "There is no bargaining with him. He wants what he wants and would agree to nothing else. "

Prince Gabriel raised a brow, looking down at her with his smirk not leaving his face. All Ophelia wanted to do at that moment was to wipe his smirk off but she wasn't that brave.

All she could do was keep up the brave facade and pretend that she wasn't shaking in her boots.

"Interesting. I didn't realise Darius' Luna had a backbone. That makes him even luckier. Don't you think it's unfair?

"He got the love of our father, the throne, and a beautiful mate, and now he has a pup on the way. We can't let that happen, can we, Lucas?" Prince Gabriel asked the scary man.

"Of course not. He can't have it all," Lucas responded.

Prince Gabriel then turned back to Ophelia who unintentionally shifted back at the look in his eyes.

Everything in her body screamed for her to run away and never look back but she still stood her ground after remembering that trying to escape would only end up as a futile effort.

"I'm sorry, little Luna, but I have to get rid of your child. It would serve as payment for Darius' sins.

"After it's removed, all your mate's sins would be forgiven. Don't you want that?" Prince Gabriel asked but Ophelia didn't respond.

The thought of something evil happening to her child sent her blood pumping in anger. Protective maternal instincts she didn't know she had suddenly kicked in. The more she stared at him, the angrier she became.

"I would sooner kill you before you would lay a finger on the Royal heir!" Noriel growled out.

Prince Gabriel chuckled. "You are outnumbered, overpowered and wounded. How can you possibly stop me?"

Noriel said nothing in response to the question but his threat still hung in the air.

Ophelia, on the other hand, stood still as her mind raced. She was staring at Prince Gabriel but she wasn't really seeing him.

It almost seemed like she had gone into a trance. A trance accompanied by a rapid build-up of anger. Soon after, a ringing began in her ears, quickly blocking out other senses.

She faintly heard Prince Gabriel call for someone but she was far too gone. She felt her legs give out and felt herself crumble to the ground. She tried to get back up but her legs felt like noodles.

Suddenly, she felt hot. Very hot.

She could no longer see clearly as a burning began in both her palms. Raising both her hands to eye level, she could see the outline of a glow through blurred eyes. She let out a startled gasp at the sight.

She slightly heard voices around her but she couldn't distinguish between them.

One voice sounded particularly concerning and in her dazed state, she knew it could only be Noriel. She wanted to scream out to him to help her but she could only manage to let out gasps.

Pausing for a moment, she tried to catch her breath. The burn in her palms travelled till it spread throughout her body. Ophelia's heart raced in terror.

Is this my end? Ophelia asked herself as she full-out went on a panic attack.

Realising it was no use keeping them open, Ophelia closed her eyes, as pained gasps left her when the burning continued, the heat flowing through every vessel in her body.

With her clothes drenched in sweat, she imagined herself dying. This felt much worse than the heat, because instead of feeling heat burning her from the inside, Ophelia now felt like she was on fire.

Then suddenly as she once again thought about the baby in her womb, her emotions shifted back to anger.

Anger for all those who hurt her throughout her life.

Anger for the ones who kidnapped her.

Anger for her family and Zachary who tried to force her into marriage that she wanted no part in.

And worst of all, anger towards the people who were trying to kill her baby.

Her palms emitted so much heat and Ophelia felt like they were on fire. She looked at her palms through her blurred eyes, and lo and behold, they were coated in red flames.

Shockingly, the fire didn't hurt her. The previous burn had disappeared, leaving a fire that didn't hurt at all.

She brought up her hands in alarm. The voices vanished and there was only silence.

At that moment, Ophelia's vision cleared and she looked around to see everyone looking at her with shock in their eyes. Noriel's shock was mixed with disgust and it stung her a bit.

Her mind hadn't registered what was going on with her and she didn't want to try to figure it out at that moment. It was a blessing in disguise because now she could attempt to save her child.

Ophelia looked at her hands again, and then her eyes settled on Prince Gabriel, and as if on instinct, she lifted her hands and pointed them at him, hoping to do some serious damage.

She wasn't sure what she was hoping to happen but she knew she would never let him touch her child.

The thought of protecting her child seemed to do the trick and a blast of flames shot out of both hands, landing on Prince Gabriel's shoulders and chest.

He began slapping himself to get put out the flames but Ophelia somehow commanded the flames to keep going. Surprisingly, the flames obeyed her voice and kept burning as Prince Gabriel's grunts of pain filled the room.

Lucas rushed at her, almost catching her off guard but Noriel pulled her back by the shoulders and sent a powerful kick to Lucas, sending him crashing into the wall with a loud crash.

He went still instantly, falling unconscious. Before the other guards could come in and point their guns at Noriel, Ophelia set them on fire.

Noriel walked over to a burning Gabriel and knocked him out and only then did Ophelia let the flames go out.
