I watched with wide eyes, as the hound ran after Wild wing. "Get that blasting Duck!!!" the Baron was close behind, passing my hideout right after.

I know he said that I should stay where I was, but I can't leave him on his own. He has been so nice to me and the last thing I want is to have his death on my conscience. With a little hesitation, I crawled out from my hiding spot. With slow and quiet steps, while looking in every direction, I followed after them.

Wild wing was already out of breath, while the hound was close behind him. To his luck, as river was before him. It wasn't too deep and also the stream was weak enough for him to swim over. The robot was not able to pass it, growling at the duck. Wild wing could get through the bushes and get out of sight. The Baron found his dog aimlessly wondering about, "Not bad...not...bad." He took out a map and traced a line with his fingers, "He won't get far...I got enough traps all over the place."

And he meant it.

Before he knows it, Wild wing was caught in one of his traps. It was a hole, covered with leaves on top. Once something walks over it, it breaks and they fall. The walls are too high for him to climb out. He doesn't know how to get out of this, "This is bad. N/A is still waiting for me. That stupid Baron and his sick desire, I need to get out of here."

I stayed near the trees, in case I needed to hide fast.

The Baron was driving alongside the river, as I watched him. Once the sound of the motor has died down, I headed towards the river, on the other side of where splashes of water. They seem to be footprints heading towards the bushes, assuming that these are from Wild wing. Just as he did, I swam over. Completely drenched now, I followed the steps.

"Wild wing?" I whispered.

No answer.

Once the steps faded I whispered again, "Wild wing?"

Still, no answer.

Panic came over me, "Where are you?"

...

...

"N/A?!"

It was far away, but clear who that was, "Wild wing?!"

"Over here!"

I ran towards the sound, before standing a massive hole. My smile grew, seeing the duck in one piece, "Thank goodness you are okay." "I need help. Is there anything that could get me out of here?" Around the place was nothing to use, the branches are too thin to hold on to. But maybe...

"I have an idea!"

In my backpack, I looked for my survival knife and paper cords. With a few branches was it possible to make a ladder for him. His surprise was huge, "Where did you learn this?" "It's a long story. Come on!" Once he was out, I grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the nearest bush.

He resisted at first, "Why should we stay here? He won't fall for it."

"You bet?"

He didn't seem convinced.

"Think about it. Who would stay near a trap? He thinks of you as an animal and Ducks are known to run and flee."

"You seem to forget that you are human and he knows that."

I gave him a slight hit against his chest, "Who said we hide together? Besides, there is one thing I have to do first."

"And what would that...ahh!"

I ripped a feather off the poor duck, "I need that."

"You could have warned me first!"

I shut his beak quickly, "Shut it. That thing is coming."

There wasn't much time left. It didn't take long, as the hound arrived on the scene. As expected, it was programmed to track the duck's scent, in this case...the feather. It was right over the piece, as the floor broke down and the robot fell into the trap. Right next to it was Wild wing, hiding in the bushes. I walked a little further away, climbing on a tree. With one of Wild wing's special pucks, he blew up the robot in pieces.

"Hide!" I whispered, seeing the Baron coming.

His anger got worse, as he saw the hole in flames. His dog made one last howl before another explosion finished him off. "My poor robo hound!" he glared at his trap. He went passed our hiding spot, looking towards the hill, "I will fill my cushions with you, you alien duck!" My plan worked. Back on his Quad, he drove higher into the forest. This was our chance to take the opposite way down. Wild wing shook his head, "I can't believe that actually worked." "Well, it was a risky chance. But hey, we made it." He looked up towards the direction the Baron left, "As long as he is around, we didn't. Come on, we have to get out of this place."

We listened, as the sound of the quad got weaker. I have no doubts that we escaped this madman.

At the lake, Wild wing swam over, with me on his back. The stream has gotten stronger; he had to concentrate to get us over safely. The moment he had reached the other side, I heard something, from behind.
