I never imagined that I will smack someone using my tote bag, worst nasa loob din pala ang insulated tumbler kaya ang lakas ng impact nang paghampas ko sa kanya.
I pressed the melting ice in Haze face. Kahit malamig na ang kamay ko, di na ako nagreklamo dahil may kasalanan ako sa kanya.
"Bat ka kasi nanggugulat?" reklamo ko while pressing the ice.
"It's not my intention to scare you," sabi niya while spacing out. "I was just passing by then I saw you," He looks at me then winces in pain.
Binalik ko sa ayos ang puwesto ng mukha niya at galit siyang tiningnan. "Wag mo ngang galawin ang mukha mo!" I half shouted.
I saw his puzzling look at and sigh like he's done with me. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko na nakahawak sa ice at dahan-dahan itong nilayo sa mukha niya.
"I'm fine now," he said which makes me sigh in relief. Buti naman, my hands have been freezing.
Tumayo siya kaya ginawa ko rin. Nakaupo kasi kami sa isang bench dito lang sa sidewalk. I put the remaining ice in the trash and walk beside him.
"Bat nagabihan ka?" tanong ko habang pinapahiran ng towel ang kamay ko. I saw that there's a residue of water on his face so I immediately wipe it using my towel.
He stop walking and look at me flabbergasted. I ask him what's wrong but he just turns away and mutters some curses. Seriously, what's wrong with him? I'm trying to be nice here dahil nga may kasalanan ako.
I run to catch up with him. "Bat nga ginabi ka?" Pangkukulit ko sa kanya.
"We need to finished articles for the school website and meeting na rin for tomorrow's event," sabi niya while staring straight at the road. Tumango ako at tumingin din sa daan.
"So pupunta ka bukas sa event ni Phone?" Napapikit ako dahil narealized ko na ang tanga ng tanong ko. Syempre, pupunta siya noh dahil crush niya yon.
"Yes, I'll cover the event tomorrow," See?
Napatawa nalang ako dahil kagagahan ko. Haze look at me like I'm some crazy lady kaya nagpeace sign nalang ako sa kanya at naglakad na.
We reach the village gate at agad naman kaming pinapasok ng guard dahil kilala niya na kaming dalawa ni Haze. I greeted him a good evening and thank him for opening the gate.
"Nga pala na sa akin ang tumbler mo," I open my tote bag to get Haze tumbler. I handed it to him and he just eyed it.
