"God why can't I find anything?", I said to myself annoyed, I had nothing I could wear. I went through my wardrobe like a 1000 times. Nothing. I looked behind me, the gift.

I walked nervously alone inside to the ball. I smiled to everyone I saw. I connected my eyes with Klaus, he gazed at me.

"Good evening ", he said to me as he approached me. "I need a drink."I answered walking away from him.

"Maya Gilbert", I heard beside me. Not someone I knew. "I'm Finn Mikaelson." He added as I smiled at him.

"You're here dancing with my brother I assume ?" He told me. "How'd you know?", i questioned him how did he know.

"I know everything sweetie", he answered jokingly as I forced a smile on him. "So you haven't seen your sister?", he added looking around.

"No I haven't, I'm sure she's around here somewhere.", I answered not knowing where she was. "Thanks", he answered as he kissed my hand.

"If everyone could gather please.", I heard from Elijah as he was about to say something to us all. "Excuse me", Finn said and left to his family.

"Welcome. Thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this. It's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance.", Elijah spoke.

"Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz. If all of you could find yourself a partner. Please join us in the ballroom."

As we danced i watched Klaus multiple times stare at me. "I'm glad you came.", he spoke out to me. "Well it was either caviar or sympathy casseroles.", I answered with an attitude.

"Onto more mannered subjects now. Like how ravishing you look in that dress.", Klaus answers flirting with me. "I didn't really have time to shop", I replied.

"The bracelet I gave you? What's your excuse for wearing that?", he asked me but I ignored his question.

"You know. You're quite the dancer.", he added smiling as usual. "Well, I've had training. I have been a dancer before", I answered.

"I know.".

"What are you doing? Why are you here with the she-devil?", I asked Matt as I was dancing with Matt now. "What was I supposed to say? No? And Why the hell are you here with Klaus?", Matt hissed back at me.

"Don't even get me started.", I answered Matt.

"You like horses." , I heard as I saw Klaus walking to me, perfect. "I'm not talking to you until you tell me why you invited me here." I answered.

"I fancy you. Is that hard to believe?", he replied to me. "Yes."

"Why? You're beautiful. You're strong. You're full of light. I enjoy you. " , Klaus replied to me. "Well I'm not looking for a relationship.", I answered with attitude.

"You know, horses are the opposite of people. They're loyal. My father hunted me for a thousand years and the closest he came was the day he killed my favorite horse.", Klaus explained.

"He severed its neck with a sword as a warning." Klaus told me. "Did you ever consider sitting down with your father and talking it out?", I offered.

"My relationship with my father was a little bit more complex than any of your parents.", he answered me. "Maybe so. But I let my father go with no regrets and to answer your question, yes. I like horses. But I also like people. And they actually like me. So I'll be inside." I replied forcing an smile walking away.

"So, what did you want to show me?", i questioned Klaus as we walked inside to this room. "One of my passions."

"Impressive. I take it the curators at the louvre aren't on vervain?" I reply as he laugh a little. "Yeah, well. That's their mistake." He answers me.

"And what about these? Where did you steal this from?", i questioned showing him my bracelet he had giving me. "That's a long story."

"But I rest assured it was worn by a princess almost as beautiful as you." He flirts making me roll my eyes at him.

"Wait a second. Did...? Did you do these?" I asked surprised. "Yeah. Actually, one of my landscapes is hanging at the hermitage, not that anyone would notice. Have you been?", he questioned me.

"I've never really been anywhere." I answered him. "I'll take you."

"Wherever you want, Rome, Paris, Tokyo?" He questioned making me laugh. "Wow." I answered as we both laughed.

"Must be really nice to just snap your fingers and get whatever you want. Is that why you collect hybrids? A little servant army to take your places and bring you things?", I said to him, his smile faded.

"You're making assumptions."

"Then why do you need Tyler? Stop controlling him. Give him his life back.", I replied. "You know. This has been a fun evening. But I funk it's time for you to leave." He hissed at me.

"I get it. Your father didn't love you. So you assumed no one else will either. That's why you compel people or you sire them or you try to buy them off"

"But that's not how it works. You don't connect with people because you don't know Ben try to understand them."

"Seriously? Just give up already " , I said to myself as I had gotten another gift that was lying on my bed.

"Thank you for your honesty, Klaus"
