Chapter 11

It was four thirty and I was running late coaches are supposed to be twenty minutes earlier than the team. I fell asleep I had two texts messages from Frank asking me if I was going already. His going to be mad at me first practice and I'm late that shows a lot. I didn't know what to wear so I wore my skinny yoga pants and my Nike black running shoes with my black gym shirt. To be honest I didn't even know if I looked good or matched but I also had to take extra clothes because we had to go bowl afterwards.
It was five and I finally got there everybody was already there I entered the gym. Frank looked at me and called my name out "Bethany" he didn't seem very happy.
Your late he said
I know I fell asleep sorry I said
Go practice with that group they'll teach you some moves he said
OK I walked over to the group I was told.
Hey guys I'm new at this so I hope I can learn something new from you guys. I said
Your Bethany right the new coach right. One of the boys asked
Yes I don't know much but I hope I'll get everything so I can help you guys too.
Yea just follow all the moves we do and you'll learn by the way you will get a lot of bruises but it will heal. He said
Oh great I said
They began to teach me some moves I was killing it I felt like I have been doing this for years it was fun. Besides all of the bruises I got I felt accomplished.
Frank was staring at me the whole time I don't know if it was to make sure I was doing my job or just checking me out. OK you guys were going to go warm up before I make you guys do wrestle offs . I know you guys enjoy wrestling each other so it's a treat for my first day. I will also be helping you guys get better at the moves.
Yes finally wrestle offs we haven't done that in like two weeks. The boy Josh said
We all warmed up including me I had to get fit for this. The warm ups were kind of hard but I still did them.
OK you guys I will choose who goes against who I said.
Remember it's not because of hate but because of how much each one of you weight and the difference in that number.
I put them all in there teams and it began I was watching every step they we're taking and every move they were making.
Frank called my name again "Bethany I need you"
Keep practicing you guys I'll be right back I told the guys.
What I said
I need you to wrestle someone on your team today he said
Today why? I can't I'm new at this I don't know every move yet I said.
If you want to be the coach you have to show us what you got he said
Is it because I was late and your mad so I have to be punished right I asked
No Bethany we need to see you wrestle now are you going to do it or no.
Do I have an option I said
OK everybody sit on the benches coach Beth is going to wrestle. He yelled
Everybody went to sit down I was really scared I didn't know everything yet I wasn't ready,
But I'm going to show frank that I can do everything he puts me up to.
OK Bethany choose your partner frank said
How about you choose it coach I mean you do choose everything for everyone I said
OK Beth let me see who your going to wrestle "Josh"
His been doing this for years his going to beat me I said
You told me to choose so I did now wrestle he said
I'll try to go easy on you Josh said.
Thanks I said
Josh you better give it all this may take you to the team frank said
We began face to face "GO" the ref yelled
I tried to slam him but he was way to strong he slammed me and out my face on the ground.
I tried getting out but he locked me in until I turned and head locked him but that didn't last much. He pinned me and I couldn't move anymore I had lost the match.
Sorry I tried going easy on you but you know the pressure of making the team was to much Josh said.
It's fine its obvious that I need more practice I said.
I walked to the changing room without saying a word to Frank. I had to go get ready for bowling I was mad at frank I'm just going by myself. I changed I wore skinny Jeans crop top and my black sandals. I actually wore makeup for this occasion I look good.
