Asher
My head hurts so much. My focus has worn off. I should definitely stop working and go home.
I stepped into my car and drove away, but I noticed a café that Sofia couldn't stop talking about and decided to try it. Maybe she'll be jealous if she finds out I went there first. I grinned at the thought of her getting upset.
When I walked inside, my eyes widened when I recognized Luke's teacher, Amelia, and I knew immediately that Sofia was with her. Seriously, my plan failed.
I sneaked in so she wouldn't notice me. Now I was trying to order. She called as I was placing my order, "Asher! What are you doing here?" Crap, I got caught.
I slowly turned around and approached the table where they were seated. "I was on my way home when I saw this café and thought I'd give it a try." I replied. She stayed quiet for a long time, so I just turned my head towards the girl sitting in front of her and said, "Hi, Amelia, right?" She smiled as she lifted her head "Hi. Yes, my name is Amelia. It's nice to meet you." She seemed nervous as she added the last sentence before I began, "It's nice to meet..." I was interrupted by a phone call.
She looked at the caller ID in horror, then apologized and hurried outside. I was left alone with Sofia. She mirrored what I said, "You were on your way home when you saw this café and thought you'd give it a try?"
"First, I don't talk like that; second, it's the truth." I lied. "Ok then, I believe you. I knew you wouldn't come here to make me jealous because you came here first." I flinched, yep, this is my sister's power, she's a mind reader.
I couldn't finish the sentence I was saying when Amelia rushed in and said. "I'm so sorry, Sofia, but I have to leave right now; I'll make it up for you soon."
Sofia gave her a concerned look, which she noticed and assured her. "Don't worry, everything is alright." Her eyes seemed to be saying the opposite, though. I honestly hope she is not going through a difficult time. She simply smiled and left.
I said as Sofia's mood changed. "You made a new friend, huh. "
"More than a friend." My eyes widened then she explained, "Don't worry, I am not taking what's yours away, I just meant she's more like a sister." What's mine? What the heck is she even saying?
I chose to ignore her words and walked to the exit. She stepped next to me and whispered, "You deserve to love, too." She winked and ran to her car. She's totally right.
Finally, I'm home. It's been a long time since I've been home so early. I took my time in the shower. After dinner, I found myself standing in front of my bookshelves. What am I doing here? My eyes fell on my middle school yearbook. It's the only yearbook I've ever treasured. I opened it and began flipping through the pages when my eyes widened. "It's definitely her."
