People always talk behind your back, no matter what. Even if you are the most successful person alive. No matter what I do, my employees always say bad things about me. I don't care what they say. Yet, it still hurts deeply.

Meeting after meeting filled with fake smiles. People say nice things to you when you're around, but after you leave, they all show their true selves. I'm sick of this hypocritical world, yet there are some people who make me want to fight even harder.

"The meeting is over. You may all leave now." I walked out of the meeting room and then into my office.

As I sat in my office chair, I unfastened my tie. "You don't look good, sir. Is everything okay?" Henry asked.

"I'm not sure; everything feels wrong." I paused for a moment before adding, "Let's get to work. There is no time to waste."

He smirked then added, "Sir, you should definitely see her after work." I glared at him.

"My apologies, sir. I'll come back to work." I don't deny that he's right.

Work has finally ended, but I still don't know what to do next. I was walking to my car when I noticed my sister standing next to it. She approached me when she noticed me. "Finally, you're here. Give me a ride home." She motioned to my car.

"Sofia, your car is literally parked over there," I responded, confused. Now I'm the one motioning to her car.

"We haven't spoken in a long time, and I'd like to spend some time with my brother. I miss my brother, is there something wrong with that?" She explained.

Suddenly, a thought came to my mind, and I said, "Fine, let's go." She smiled and jumped like an idiot. "Good grief, you're an adult." I added.

"You looked distracted in today's meeting. Is there something bothering you?" Sofia finally broke the silence.

"There is no need to worry about me. I'm the big brother; I should be the one worried about you." There's no reason to make her so much more worried over me.

"I think I remember Amelia," she said, and my heart skipped a beat when I heard her name.

"She was Grace's best friend—the one she's been talking about, right?" I had a feeling she'd find out eventually, but not this soon.

"How did you find out?" I asked. "Just a hunch." She paused before continuing, "But why didn't you tell me?" I don't know either. I've always seemed to be protective of her.

"No reason." I replied casually.

I need to change the subject. "How is Luke doing with his studies?" I asked. "He's doing great; Amelia is a great teacher." She answered. I couldn't say anything else because I didn't want to talk about her any longer.

We've arrived at her house. Usually, I would walk inside and check on Luke, but I was hesitant. "Just come in; there's no need to worry," she said. I nodded and began walking inside. She was sitting next to Luke and explaining something to him. They didn't notice us, so we walked slowly to the kitchen, making no noise.

"Luke, you did great today. Keep going." We heard her saying to Luke. "Thank you, teacher." He answered.

We both started walking outside the kitchen, and they finally noticed us. Luke started running towards Sofia, and I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was truly beautiful. She smiled when she noticed I was staring at her.

"Uncle!" Luke hugged me, and I finally looked down at him. "Hey, Kiddo. Look at you; you're growing stronger by the day," I smiled as I lifted him into my arms. He giggled.

Finally, I heard her voice, but she wasn't talking to me: "Mrs. Harper, I'm leaving now."

"Can you stay a little longer, Amelia? I want to speak with you," my sister pleaded as she approached her. She nodded and followed Sofia. They immediately disappeared, and she was no longer close to me.
