Amelia

On a cold February day, my dreams became a reality.

I gave him a confused look as he stood up and walked to me, and once he was facing me, he slowly pulled a small box and buried it in his palms.

My heart beat increased dramatically. I think I've forgotten how to properly breathe. I know exactly what he's about to do, but I'm not sure how to react.

"I really have no idea how to do this," he admitted. I came back to my senses once I heard his voice. "Amelia, I went from respecting you to loving you. I have always respected you and will continue to do so. As for loving you. It will never end, no matter what."

He knelt on one knee and slowly opened the little box, revealing a diamond ring. "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

My eyes started burning from tears. "Yes, I'm yours. I'm all yours." I smiled through my tears.

I helped him stand up, and then he slowly placed the ring on my finger. He pulled me into a hug, then softly kissed my forehead. We stared at each other for a long time.

He started running his fingers through my hair and whispered, "Thank you for making me the happiest man alive." I smiled at his words. "I've loved you ever since I saw you." He confessed, and my heart began to melt. Maybe my love for him wasn't unrequited after all.

All I want to do right now is go home and look for my old diary, then come back here and read every single entry I wrote about him.

I even want to read every single time I wrote about me crying over him because I thought we'd never be together.

I want to show him each time I wrote about how just hearing him say "hi" made me fall deeply in love with him. I wrote all of this despite having strict parents, and I managed to keep it all well hidden.

Speaking of parents, I just got a call from my mother as we were leaving the restaurant. I took her call, and she spoke hurriedly before I even said anything. "You can have Asher drive you home. Have fun!" That's all she said with a cheerful tone before hanging up on me.

He drove me home with one hand on the steering wheel and the other interlocking my fingers as he held my hand. He would sometimes kiss my hand. But that didn't stop us from having a serious conversation about the future.

He parked his car in front of our house and then opened the door for me. I was going to say goodbye and walk inside when he softly pulled me by the waist and kissed my cheeks. That made me laugh. We then said our goodbyes, and I went inside.

Asher, being a responsible man, would have definitely told my parents of his plans. Let's see how my mom reacts when she sees this ring.

I spotted Stella as soon as I looked around. She pretended we hadn't seen each other in a long time, but she was literally following me. "We're staying over tonight since we missed you so much." She pointed to Lily, who was watching TV.

My mom finally appeared, and I asked her and my sister to follow me to the kitchen. "Mom, Stella. I have something to tell you." I declared.

They kept a poker face, but their eyes showed their excitement. "I'm getting married." I said as I lifted my hand. They took a long time to react, and their reaction was normal. Yes, they were surprised, but it was fake shock.

"You knew all along, didn't you?" I said. "I'm sorry." They both said it at the same time.

"We wanted to tell you the moment he told us, but we couldn't ruin the surprise. We tried our best to keep it a secret." Stella admitted. I smiled at their responses and then pulled them both into a hug.

"Ladies, it's time to sleep. We have a wedding to plan for." My mom said as we pulled the hug away from each other.

Lily then walked into the kitchen and asked, "Who is getting married? Is it you, Aunty?" I nodded, and she ran over to me, and I hugged her as well.

This is all I've ever asked for in my life. A happy family, a nice job, and most importantly, a perfect man.
