Tony had to admit, he feel partly responsible for Sally's son. He met the lady maybe once and barely even knew her. Maybe, if he knew her more he could've helped with Percy's childhood, or something. Maybe if he hadn't been so selfish and self-centered, things would be different.
Tony knew all too well what it was like to lose parents and guardians. That alone caused him to feel very remorseful for Percy. However, his feelings changed when they got to the car.
As soon as they got in the limo, Percy said, "Look, here's the deal, I don't want to live with you. I already have a place that takes care of me, but since my parents died the government forced me to come with you because you're my only living family. That doesn't mean I like you.
"You look exactly like every bossy, egotistical, narcissistic, stuck-up, arrogant, white, privileged male ever born. So, how 'bout you don't bother me and I don't bother you. Cool?"
Typically Tony would respond with some snarky, sarcastic comment. But the hatred and anger that had appeared in Percy's eyes so quickly threw him for a loop. "Cool..." was Tony's extremely intelligent answer.
"It was a rhetorical question." The kid snapped back.
There was silence in the car that seemed very awkward to Tony but didn't seem to bother Percy.
Then a thought popped in his head, "Oh! The Avengers are also going to be living with us in my tower!"
"Don't care." The kid said, seemingly very bored.
The tension in the air after that was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
Finally, we reached the tower.
Percy grabbed his duffel bag full of stuff from his apartment, which they stopped by before they had arrived at the tower, and his backpack and practically launched himself out the door before the car even fully stopped.
Tony took a deep breath and tried to control his temper. This kid was getting on his nerves.
He got out, way more gracefully than Percy and walked to the front entrance and elevator, flashing the lady at the desk a smile.
"Do you want to see your room first or the main common area?" Tony tried to ask Percy.
"Don't care," he said, again.
"Okay, then."
They rode in silence. After a few very uncomfortable seconds the elevator dinged and the two stopped off at the floor that contained Percy's room.
"Okay, so your room is the first right and then take a left and then two rights and then the second door on the left. If you get lost, just ask Jarvis." Tony quickly explained to Percy.
"Jarvis?" He asked, finally looking at Tony.
"My AI."
"Oh," he muttered under his breath. "Of course he has an AI." Tony could've sworn he saw him roll his eyes. Ugh! The audacity of kids these days!
"Okay, well get settled and we'll probably order some pizza or something later tonight. You can meet the others then. Also, I can help you get your room situated and customized if you want?" Tony offered, walking back towards the elevator. He heard a faint grunt in response, followed by fading footsteps.
Second chapter done! Way shorter but it was kinda harder to write! I think I'm going to try and post a chapter at least once a week maybe more. But giving myself breaks for Christmas, Halloween, thanksgiving, etc. It's not amazing, but I'm still getting the hang of this.
