Percy's POV (yes I know, again)
My head hurt, it felt way too heavy for the rest of my body. Really, my entire body felt heavy. It felt like every step I took was like hauling a ton of bricks in a Home Depot moving box.
We were walking again. We had been doing that a lot.
Nico had found this type of plastic map thing stationed on the side of a trail, which said that we were in Bear Mountain State Park.
I had heard of it. And I also already knew that we were here, although I did not tell Nico. Mostly because I was too busy trying to not throw up and pass out at the same time, and because it would raise questions I didn't want to answer.
Anyway, the map showed that there was this creek that branched off of the Hudson River-which flowed through the park-called something like Ploppinpen Creek.
Correction, Popolopen Creek, along with a bridge named Popolopen Bridge.
So we were walking there. It took probably at least 30 minutes. I don't know, I'm not very good at time.
But we didn't see anybody else. Just the nature spirits and the occasional bird or snake, but no other humans.
It was also eerily quiet, except for the faint sound of rushing water that provided me with some comfort.
My head was still pounding and I had developed a nasty cough in the last few minutes.
"Hey! There's another map!" Nico pointed out, way too loudly.
"Good." I faintly responded, stumbling over and shining my flashlight over it.
"You okay?" Nico asked.
"Always." I said, giving him a smile that most likely looked more like a grimace.
Nico didn't look convinced, but shrugged it off. At least, I think he did. I could just be hallucinating.
"It says that we're only like a quarter of a mile away." Nico said.
"Okay, good."
Nico looked at me suspiciously. "We can take a break if you want?"
"No! No, that's okay. Let's just get there as soon as possible." I stated.
"Are you sure? Because it's no trouble." Nico persisted. Gods, I forget how stubborn that kid is.
"It's fine! I'm fine! Let's keep going!" I rolled my eyes and started walking.
Then, I ran straight into a tree. And my nose started bleeding. A lot.
Nico was laughing at me, while also trying to tell me that I was going the wrong way.
I got up from where I had fallen backwards and started walking in the other direction.
"That's...still the...wrong way!" Nico choked out.
I turned to the right direction, at least I thought it was the right direction, and continued walking. "I know that."
Nico followed after me, still laughing his heart out.
At least he wasn't interrogating me on whether or not I want to stop for a break.
I wiped the blood from my hand. It was a weird color, almost blackish instead of the dark red.
Creepy...
"You're blood looks weird." Nico deadpanned, getting over his laugh attack quickly and startling fast. It's really unsettling when he does that.
"Does it?" I asked, trying to play dumb. Which I don't think worked.
