2nd POV / Percy

"Alright, Nico. Let's go home."

--------------------------

They didn't make it 3 steps.

A sword pressed against Nico's throat and he froze.

A familiar voice whispered in Percy's ear. "Move and he's dead."

Percy froze too. Which is understandable.

The flashlights went out. The phones died.

Darkness...

One beat.

Two beats.

Everything was silent...

Then...

Everything exploded.

Not literally, of course!

It happened in an instant. Everything changed.

Nico drew his sword and pushed the sword blocking his throat, causing it to clatter to the ground. There was no one there to hold it.

Percy uncapped Riptide, illuminating the area around them with a dim, bronze light.

"Where are you?" Percy asked, getting into a defensive stance.

"Who are you?" Nico asked, also getting into a defensive stance.

A sick, sadistic laugh rang through the air. Shaking everything within a 25 mile radius.

Percy face fell, color fading. He knew that laugh. Hell, he had to hear that laugh in his head for weeks.

Percy looked around again. Nothing.

Please, boys. I am everywhere and nowhere. I am everything and nothing.

The voice reverberated throughout the junkyard. Still shaking the pieces of metal.

"That doesn't answer my question." Nico demanded.

Just ask your cousin. He knows the answer. He knows me well.

Nico looked to Percy and raised his brow, "Well?"

"Nico. We should just go." Percy deflected. Glancing around nervously. He could feel Tartarus at the very edges of his mind. Testing the boundaries.

"It isn't safe. He'll get here soon." Percy continued.

"Who is 'he'?" Nico demanded, exasperated.

"It doesn't matter. You don't want to know." Percy pleaded. "Come on. We have to leave. We don't have a lot of time."

"Not until you tell me." Nico planted his feet and crossed his arms, strangely resembling a small child.

Percy cursed under his breath. "No time. Nico, please, just come on."

Nico searched the older boys face. He looked scared, which isn't a look he wore often. In fact, Nico could barely remember the last time he saw Percy look like that.
