Into the first thirty minutes into the movie Aurora had already fallen asleep.

Meredith removed herself from the bed and went into the bathroom.

Once she finished washing her hands she dried them with a towel before going back into the bedroom.

When she walked into the bedroom she found Aurora sitting against the bed with the blankets up to her neck, shivering.

"Rory, what are you doing up? I thought you were asleep," she says as she walked back into the bedroom towards Aurora.

"I was but I had a bad dream," she said quietly.

"What about?" She asked sitting on the edge of the bed.

"When me and daddy were at the drinking place he was talking to this lady and he left me alone at one of the tables... and then one lady came to talk to me and when I looked at daddy he wasn't there," she said with tears in her eyes.

"Did you find him?" She asked.

"No, he and the other lady were gone so I went outside to look for him but he was nowhere so I sit down by the wall and then I thought someone was coming to hurt me but it was just you,"

"Oh, honey," Meredith sighed.

"And then we went home and now we're here," she said quietly.

Meredith stayed quiet running her fingers through her daughters hair for a bit before she spoke.

"Do you want anything to eat? I can make you something or we can go out and get something," she said now rubbing Auroras arm.

"Can you make spaghetti?" She asked shyly.

"Of course, baby," she smiles softly.

Meredith never knew how to cook, nor did she have any interest in learning but when she found out she was going to be a mother the only thing she wanted was to be the opposite of her mother, so she took cooking classes and learned how to cook for her daughter.

"Do you want to watch me cook or do you want to stay up here and watch tv in bed?"

"Can I watch tv in the living room?" she asked.

"Of course," she said. she kissed the top of Aurora's head before she left the bedroom with Aurora following behind her.

Meredith put the pot of hot water on the stove and waited for it to boil. when she was about to go check on Aurora when there was a knock at the door.

she wasn't expecting anyone over but the only people she could think of was Nathan or Addison. she could only hope it was Addison.

she went to answer the front door before a loud bang against it.

"Mommy, who's at the door?" Aurora asked.

"I'm going to go check, honey," she said before unlocking the door and opening it to see who it was. it was Nathan.

she didn't want Aurora to hear or see Nathan so she quickly walked out the front door while pushing Nathan further outside.

"now isn't a good time Nathan," she said as she stepped onto the lawn not wanting to be so close to Nathan.

"why is she with you? she's supposed to be with me today but you wouldn't let me have her!" he raised his voice.

"shut up, Aurora's inside and I don't want her to hear you!"

"she's my daughter I should have the right to see her when I want!"

"but you don't and that's your fault. you left when she was born, you weren't there to sign the birth certificate!"

"I was busy!"

"being with another woman on the night your daughter is being born isn't busy, it's immature, you're not a father, you're an idiot! and when I found Aurora in the back of an alley you were high as a kite. do you know what could have happened to her had I not found her! people get raped behind bars, children get raped in alleys, she's five, she can't fend for herself and with you being drugged you can't do anything, not that you even would if you were sober. I have evidence of what you did so I can use it in court if don't stay away!" she said. she knew it was harsh to not let him see her anymore but tonight was different.

so many things could have gone down if she hadn't found Aurora in the time that she did.

"if she wants to see you she can, but if she doesn't want to see you then you won't see her, and that's final. you don't get to say when you see her, she does, and if something like this happens again then I'll say if you can see her or not, no exceptions, you don't get a say anymore. I raised her, she's my daughter, the only thing she has from you is a bit of DNA but the rest is me and my doing. got it? good," she said calmly.

Nathan knew there was no point in arguing with Meredith. she had always been stubborn and did things her own way despite what others said.

he simply rolled his eyes, got in his car and left. when she watched Nathan's car disappear into the distance she felt tears brimming in her eyes.

she took her eyes off the road and looked across from her. the neighbor was outside watering the lawn and he had most likely seen and heard everything, he would have to be deaf to not hear any of it.

he wasn't staring, nor was he not staring. he placed the watering can down and glanced at her. she closed her eyes for a second before opening them again and going back inside.
