Aurora was now eleven and their son was born two weeks ago.

Meredith had taken maternity leave and Derek had taken paternity leave so they could both take care of the new baby.

Aurora didn't misbehave as much as she once did. She figured the baby needed most of the attention.

Aurora continued going to school so she wasn't home for six hours which left them alone with the baby.

"Derek, can you take him? I think he's getting hungry and I need to make his bottle," she said.

"Yeah, of course," he said as he took Lucas into his arms.

She went into the kitchen and started warming up the milk.

Once the milk was defrosted and warm at a good temperature. She poured it into the bottle and brought it into the living room.

She handed the bottle to Derek and he began to feed the baby.

"How are you feeling, do you need to lie down?" He asked.

"No, I'm fine. Just some pain," she said as she sat down next to him.

"You shouldn't be walking around so much. If you need help just ask me, I don't want you to get hurt," he said.

"My stitches are fine," she sighed.

"Is there any reason in particular why you wanted to have a c-section instead of a natural birth?" He asked.

"Rory was an emergency c-section so I don't really trust myself to have a natural birth. If anything goes wrong we're already in an O.R," she said.

"What happened with Rory's birth?" He asked.

"The placenta tore, I had to call an ambulance. I passed out before they got there," she said.

"But everything was fine?" He asked. "Yeah, I had to stay for a bit longer but no one was really hurt," she said.

Once the baby was done feeding she removed the bottle and sat him up on his knee and began to gently pat his back.

"Aurora should be done school soon once he's burped I'll go get her," he said.

"I could go," she said. "Meredith-" he said.

"I would just be sitting in a car the whole time," she said.

"No, I will go," he said sternly.

"Fine," she rolled her eyes.

Once Derek was finished with the baby he wiped him off and placed the baby into the bassinet.

"I'm going to go pick up Rory, please don't do anything stupid," he said standing up.

"We'll be fine," she said. He kissed her on the head before leaving the room and then the house.

When Derek's car pulled out of the driveway she picked up Lucas and took him into his nursery.

She made sure he was asleep before she went into the laundry room.

She took everything out from the dryer and placed everything into the laundry basket before putting the washer's contents into the dryer.

She put the dirty clothes into the washer and turned the machines on.

She grabbed the basket went into Aurora's bedroom and folded her clothes away.

She put all the clothes away before going back into the living room and sitting down on the couch.

A couple minutes later she heard Derek's car pull into the driveway.

When they got inside Aurora ran straight into her bedroom.

"What's going on with her?" Meredith asked as he walked into the room.

"I don't know, she was upset when she got in the car," he said sitting down next to her.

"I asked what was wrong and she said boys were stupid so who knows? Could be anything," he said.

"I'll have a talk with her when she's in a better mood," she said.

"Where is Lucas?" He asked. "He's asleep in the nursery," she said.

"I'm going to go start dinner, I'll make your favourite," he said standing up. He kissed her on the lips before going into the kitchen.
