Meredith hadn't spoken to Derek in a couple of days. She was doing her best to avoid him which was hard considering he lived next door.

She had her last court hearing today. Today would be the day they decided on whether she would get full custody or not.

They had shared custody since Aurora was three. Meredith would have her for the majority of the time and Nathan would get her on the weekends.

She left Aurora with Addison while she went to court.

She wasn't sure how she was going to explain it to Aurora if she did get full custody.

Aurora enjoyed seeing her father but she didn't know how she would react if she found out her mother was the reason her father couldn't see her anymore.

After the court hearing, she went to the hospital knowing Addison most likely got called in took her with and brought her into daycare.

But when she got there she didn't see Aurora in the daycare centre.

She checked the O.R. board and went into the gallery where Addison was operating.

"Addison, where's my daughter?" She spoke into the intercom.

"I left her with Derek, she didn't want to sit in daycare for six hours. She likes him, and he lives next door," Addison said.

"Next time text me that," she said before turning the intercom off and leaving.

She parked her car in her own driveway before getting out and going next door.

She knocked on the door a couple of times before Aurora answered the door.

"Mommy!" She exclaimed hugging Meredith's legs.

"Do you know it was me, or are you answering doors to strangers?" She asked.

"Derek saw your car come home," she said.

"Good, why don't you run home, here are my keys, don't lose them," she said handing the house keys to Aurora.

Aurora ran home while Derek stood at the doorway.

"How did the court hearing go?" He asked. "She's all mine," she said.

"We'll that's good, isn't it?" He said. "Yes, but she might hate me for it when she's older," she sighed.

"You're saving her a lot of pain and trauma. You're just doing your job as her mother," he said.

"She may not see it that way," she said. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked softly.

"No, legally I have full custody. If he tries anything I get a restraining order against him. There's nothing to talk about. Thank you for watching her," she said.

"Of course," he said. She left and went home.

The door was unlocked when she got there. She stepped inside and locked the front door.

"When are we going to see Daddy again?" Aurora asked hopping onto the couch while Meredith sat down next to her.

"I don't think so sweetie," she sighed. "Why not?" She asked.

"You know how I had to keep going to court with Daddy?" She said. Aurora nodded.

"I asked the judge to take a look at me and Daddy so they could choose who should get full custody of you," she said.

"What's custody?" Aurora asked. "Before we had partial custody of you, that means legally I get you most of the time and he gets you sometimes. But now that we went to court the judge decided that I now have full custody and your dad doesn't have any custody," she said.

"So I can't see Daddy anymore?" She asked.

"I don't know yet. But legally he doesn't have any right to see you anymore. Maybe in a couple of months if he's gotten better he can see you again but I'm not sure yet," she said.

"So I'm not going to see him anymore?" She asked.

"Not for a little while, no," she said.

"So what will I do on weekends?" She asked. "We can stay home, you and I, we can do something, maybe with Auntie Addison?" She said.

"And Derek?" She smiled. "Uh, sure, if he's not busy," she said.

"Can I go play now?" She asked, whining a bit.

"Yes, you can go play now," she tickled her stomach. She giggled as she ran off to play.

She didn't expect Aurora to take it as well as she did but she didn't expect her to take it so well for very long either.
