a week later

PAIGE FELT IT BEST THAT SHE RETURN TO her old life before the Titans, before Ghost, before Dick Grayson. After everything she lost in the past two years, she managed to lose herself and she didn't know how to handle it. Cadmus had brought out something within her that she pushed away in her grief. They brought out her pure rage and she was scared that she would hurt the ones she loved. So for their safety and hers, she needed to take time for herself.

However, that proved to be more stressful than she originally had thought. First, it was the alarm that never rang. The bright sun in her eye is what made her finally wake up to look at the time. In a sudden panic, Paige ran around the room doing some last minute packing before she got herself dressed. Figuring she didn't want to be more late than she was and miss her flight to Michigan, she decided to find something to eat while at the airport.

Next, was the unbelievable amount of traffic on the way to the airport itself. The woman mentally cursed herself for forgetting to turn on her alarm so that she could leave early and beat the traffic. Unfortunately, she couldn't reverse time so she had to deal with the fact that there was an incredibly high chance that she would miss her flight and have to find a new one.

Lastly, it was the annoying amount of questions that Dick felt the need to ask. "Like I said for the thousandth time now, I have everything with me and I'm on my way to the airport now. You can stop worrying."

"I'll stop worrying when you land in Michigan," the man said over the phone.

"You're cute when you worry. But don't, cause you furrow your eyebrows together too much and it'll give you wrinkles. You're gonna look fifty-five in the next year if you keep it up."

"Thanks."

"No problem," she responded, ignoring the obvious sarcasm in his tone. "But seriously, don't worry about me, I'll be fine. I'll call you when I get to the airport. And if it makes you feel better, after my flight."

"Alright, don't get into too much trouble."

"I'm stuck in traffic how much trouble can I possibly get into?" She asked before saying her goodbyes and ending the call.

Not too long afterward, the woman lost control of the car as it flipped along the road. A small explosion caused the accident as passing cars watched the car roll. Her ears rung from the sudden loud sound as her body thrashed inside of the vehicle. She tried to avoid the shattering glass but it was hard to move her arms.

When the car came to a halt, it stayed flipped over on its roof. The woman was stuck inside, extremely confused about the event that just happened. Managing to cut herself free from the seat belt that was digging into her stomach, she fell onto the roof. Broken glass from the windshield cut into her hands as she tried to cushion her fall.

Feeling weak from the blood loss, Paige barely managed to pull herself out of the car wreck before lying on her back on the pavement. Her breathing was shallow as she stared up at the sky hoping to God that this wouldn't be the way she died. She slowly turned her head over to see a blurry figure approach her. She couldn't see who it was and her brain sure wasn't working properly enough to let her know that she was in more danger now than she was while in the car.
