Here was Iida, taking his brother's name on and not living up to it.
He would not fail his brother.
"Watch your right!!" Izuku shouted, trying to dodge the Hero Killer's attacks while the man also turned to Todoroki. The dual-haired boy aimed his flames in the direction Stain was coming at him. Stain dodged and leaped away, cutting down the ice barriers that Todoroki kept throwing at him.
(You're right, Hero Killer, These three are different from me. But still...) Iida thought as tears fell down his face.
"Ice and fire!" Stain cackled.
"Try dodging this, Hero Killer!!" Kirishima called, the Alpha charging up the power he was determined to make his own, in his legs as he hardened his upper torso and slammed into the killer, only to be thrown away from the older Alpha.
"Anyone ever tell you that you rely on your Quirk too much?" Stain inquired as he dodged and ducked, getting closer to Todoroki.
Izuku snarled, seeing what was about to happen. "Makes you a careless fighter," Stain concluded, running under the blast of fire and swinging his sword at Todoroki. The boy's left arm was going to get sliced off.
"Ice and Fire! Move!" Izuku screamed, seeing that the dual-haired boy would not move in time.
(If I don't move now, I'll never be able to be as good as Kirishima, or Todoroki! Not even this stranger who helped me! I won't bear the name Ingenium if I don't start now to be a hero!!) Iida thought, standing in slow motion,
Iida's engines fired up, and he launched himself at Stain, punching him away from Todoroki. The Omega was unharmed, and no blood was drawn. Iida stopped himself by Todoroki, and Stain got to his feet, now a good distance from them.
"Ingenium! It's about time!" Izuku shouted, quickly raising a pillar of earth to shield Iida and Todoroki from a flying dagger. While Kirishima came back over to the other three and pulled Izuku closer to the other three. Though the Omega merely shoved Kirishima away from him again, despite the hurt look on the redhead's face, along with the way he felt the boy's hands try to linger longer than necessary.
(Don't be distracted. Don't speak unless necessary. You know what to do. Do it.) Izuku reminded himself, stepping forward and putting a bit more distance between himself and the redhead.
"You're free too?" Todoroki asked, having thought he saw Izuku get paralyzed.
"I dodged it," Izuku replied quietly, keeping his voice as deep as possible to shield his identity from the one that knew him personally.
"Todoroki, Kirishima," Iida panted.
"This has nothing to do with you. I apologize."
"This again?" Kirishima gritted his teeth, turning to Iida with a determined expression.
"We're not leaving!!"
'I'm okay, but no more of any of your blood will be shed tonight!" Iida declared.
"It's no use trying to put up a heroic front no," Stain grunted, his blade now broken in half.
"A person's nature doesn't change in just a few minutes. You'll never be anything but a fraud."
"You're a fundamentalist lunatic, Iida don't listen to him," Kirishima growled.
"No. He is completely correct. I have no right to call myself a hero, but..." Iida responded quietly. Streams of blood dripped down Iida's suit armor on his arm. Todoroki noticed this and was worried. But Iida only clenched his fist.
"Even so, If I give up now, then the name Ingenium will die." Iida went on.
"Pathetic," Stain's eyes glowed a bright red, and he lunged at both Iida, Kirishima, and Todoroki. Todoroki shoved Iida and Kirishima out of the way and unleashed a huge flame burst at Stain. He yelled at Izuku to duck, which he did. He kept up a steady torrent of fire.
