Hunters And Hope

Changbin grumbled from the window, peeking outside again. The chain around his ankles was attached to Chan- wherever the undead bastard was hiding. He wished for the third time that he'd been stronger. He should've shot the prick behind the pet store when he'd had the chance.

The yard was empty. No one had shown up yet, but that didn't mean that they wouldn't. So, he was the unwilling watchdog- and Jisung was hidden somewhere close by. He'd heard his laugh earlier that evening, echoing down the hall.

The sound made him simultaneously fuzzy with joy and sickly with rage.

Jisung was HERE. And he was laughing? At what? Laughing with madness? If they'd broken him...

Changbin slapped the side of his skull with an open hand. He couldn't give up hope now, not when he was so close. Jisung was here somewhere. He'd get him back. Finally, he'd get him back. And it wouldn't matter how broken he might be.

A movement on the lawn caught his attention.

The group of hunters. They were walking up like they'd been invited over, not even trying to be quiet. As if the sun had some magic monster-weakening power.

"Fucking... idiots." He whispered, yanking once on the chain around his ankle by lazily kicking the foot out.

Chan appeared a minute later. "You see them?"

"Yes."

He closed his eyes, opening them a moment later. "Oh wow. Yeah, I can hear them."

They didn't even have time to break in through the front door. Chan had already given a report at the police station during the night, so when he called again to complain about a large group of crazed men outside of his house, they appeared on the scene like they'd been summoned by spell.

The entire group was arrested. Changbin watched it happen through the curtain. Then one of the officers came in and APOLOGIZED to Chan- completely ignoring Changbin's thick chains that ended in the vampire's grip.

"Are you fucking serious?" He hissed, interrupting them. "You work for vampires? Where's the justice in THAT?"

The two appraised him tiredly, going right back to ignoring him as soon as he was finished speaking.

"Anyway sir, there shouldn't be a problem like this again- but I do suggest you move. Rumors have been known to spread in the worst ways."

"Thank you. I'll consider it."

Minho shouted upstairs. The urge to run to him was so strong that Chan almost walked away while the cop was still speaking. The humans had a hold on him like nothing else.

"You hear that officer? Another captive. Screaming from somewhere inside this house. Honestly, how do you sleep at night?" Changbin growled, unleashing his impressive glare.

They all stopped talking as Minho screamed again, because this time Chan heard 'up here' at the end. Someone had snuck past them without even tripping the alarm. He wrapped Changbin's chain around his arm, leading the human and a few officers upstairs.

Minho and Jisung woke up because there was light pouring into the room and the shape in the doorway was WRONG.

The curly-haired hunter that Chan had called 'Wrath' was standing in the hall. He'd opened every window in the hallway. Sunlight illuminated him as brightly as a descending God.
