The Mini Badass

Chapter 21

I stare down at the dead man I just shot. "Holy shit." Glenn mutters taking quick glances between the two dead men.

"Ains." Rick says making me stare at him with tearful, shocked eyes. "You alright?" He asks and I nod, slowly leaving the back of the bar. 

"Glenn?" Rick asks the boy who also nods. We all stand in silence taking in what just happened.

"Let's head back." Rick says gaining nods from the rest of us. The cop kneels down next to Tony, taking his gun and a few shotgun shells.

I hold my gun tightly as Glenn takes Dave's gun. The sound of a car engine makes all of us jump. "Car, car." Rick states the obvious, shoving us to duck down.

The men crouch closer to the door while I duck behind a pillar, closer to Tony's still bleeding body.

I clutch my gun to my chest as the car's engine shuts off and the doors open and close.

"Dave? Tony?" A man's voice calls out. "They said over here?" He asks another. "Yeah man." A different man says. 

"I'm telling you, I heard shots." A third voice says.  "I saw roamers two streets over. Might be more around." Man 2 tells his group.

"It's hot, we gotta get out of here" Man 1 orders before starting to bang on the bars doors. "Dave! Tony!"

"Shut up you idiot." Man 2 snaps at his friend. "You trying to attract 'em? Just stay close we're gonna find 'em."

I peak my head around the pillar to see a shadow in the doors window, I glance down at Rick who slowly shakes his head. 

All three of the men eventually walk away and I rush towards the guys, sliding down next to them.

I don't know how long passed until Rick peaked out the window. "Why won't they leave?" Glenn asks the man who crawls over to us.  "Would you?" Hershel asks and Glenn shakes his head.

"We can't sit here any longer." Rick whispers to us. "Let's head out the back and make a run for the car." He orders but the moment all of us make a move to leave-

Bang!

A shot from outside makes us all cower back to the wall. Another two shots go off before silence.

"What happened?" A man outside asks his buddies. "Roamers, I nailed 'em."

"I clear those building, you clear this one yet?" The same man asks and I can only assume he means our building.

"We're looking for Dave and Tony and no one checks the damn bar?" The man says, his voice getting louder.

Six feet hit the ground outside of the bar but the doors never open as Glenn holds it closed with his body.

"Someone pushed it." The man outside says, confused. "There's someone in there."

"Yo, someone in there?" Man 2 says louder than his friend. "Yo, if someone's in there we don't want trouble, we're just looking for our friends."

"What do we do?" Man 3 asks going back to bad whispering. "Bum rush the door?" Man 2 suggest just to be shut down by Man 1. "We don't know how many are there, relax."

"We don't want any trouble." Man 2 starts again as I look between the dead bodies. "We're just looking for our friend, if something happened, tell us."

"This place is crawling with corpses, if you can help us not die. I'd appreciate it."  

"Man, your bugging. I'm telling you there's no one there." Man 3 tells his friend. "Someone guard the door, if they're in there they might know where Dave and Tony are."
