Standing there unsure what to do Nyx waffled back and forth on whether or not to open the door and let Loki inside. What was he here to do? Would he help her or arrest her? What else could she do other than run? She did want to stay in New York. So maybe if he talked to SHIELD and the other Avengers on her behalf maybe she could get protection. Would that even be possible? Setting Westley down on the couch she walked swiftly over to the largest bookshelf in the living room. She grabbed out a trilogy of books and popped out the small section of drywall behind it that housed a small hidden box. Opening it she took out the two USB's inside and rushed to hide them in the false bottoms of her boots. These were her insurance policies and probably the only reason why Orion hadn't already killed her yet. Every bit of data on the Crimson Sparrows and their partners were on those USB's and for all he knew if he killed her she had fail-safes to release them to the media. She did, but these were the hardcopies.
Knocking again, Loki called to her through the door begging to be let inside. Reluctantly crossing the living room to the front door Nyx opened it just a crack to peek out to see Loki standing there in the hallway in all of his black, green and gold Asgardian leather glory. Eyes widening at the sight, she stuck her head out to see if anyone else was with him. When she didn't see anyone or feel their shadows lingering in the stairwell Nyx reached out to grasp onto the lapel of his leather jacket and pulled him inside. Quickly shutting the door and locking it behind him she let Loki go and put a fair bit of space between them coming to a stop by the kitchen. She eyed Westley's travel backpack and her go-bag which were both unfortunately on the couch where he now was standing next to. Following her gaze he lets out a disappointed sigh when he sees the small duffle bag. "Where will you go? If you leave New York it will only invite the Crimson Sparrows to find you all the sooner." At her confused questioning expression, he nods. "Yes, I know about them. As well as much as SHIELD knows about Mirage and Nyx."
At the mention of her sister Nyx tried to figure out how he knew.. How could he have possibly figured it out when she never once- Her eyes narrow on the god as her nostrils flare with anger. "You lied to me. The day we met. You said you didn't look through my mind." Shaking her head she folded her arms under her breasts in a defensive gesture. "Another lesson harshly learned it seems. I was wrong to trust you." Mumbling to herself with a mix of anger and sadness, "I can't trust anyone ever."
Taking half a step forward Loki immediately stills when she creates from the shadows two long daggers. They didn't look like they could do any real harm as they were nearly see through with wispy tendrils of shadow coming off of them. But clearly that wasn't the case by how she handled them. Impressed, he holds up his hands to show her he means her no harm while she readies to fight him. "Forgive me, darling. I swear that I only looked once when you first approached me. It was only to see if you meant to attack me. When I didn't see more than your true name and the name of the Crimson Sparrows along with why you approached me, I shut myself out of your mind." Motioning for her to come sit down he waits until she does before sitting across from her in the adjacent armchair. As much as he wanted to close the distance between them. To hold her hands in his, he would have to hold back his own wants for now. Loki needed to tread lightly because right now Nyx was clearly easily spooked. All it would take was one wrong word or a too quick gesture and she would flee. He just knew it was true because that's what he would do.
Letting her daggers fall back into shadow her husky voice came out choked with a humorless laugh. "A lie is still a lie, Loki. It's something I try very hard not to do unless I'm forced to." Pointing towards the window she clenches her jaw. "Even more so now that every moment outside this apartment I have to breathe the lie that is Selene Moineau."
Placing a hand over his heart, Loki inclines his head as he begs for forgiveness and makes her a vow. "I am beyond regretful for lying to you and shall endeavor to never lie to you again. I swear on the memory of my beloved mother that I shall only ever tell you the truth from this moment forward." Having talked about Frigga several times, Nyx knew how much his adoptive mother had meant to him. So for him to swear so adamantly on her memory meant that, again reluctantly, she believed him. Even so Nyx would need to reinstate the training she'd grown up with to guard her mind against her fellow mutants who were telepaths and hoped it would work on him as well.
