It wasn't long before Sapnap did something dumb again. We had come to a little mountain stream that cascaded from a peak in the Pastell Mountains and soon joined the Ougble River. Since it was a warm day and Sapnap had been walking for a while, he decided to wade through the river instead of using the bridge which was literally right there.

Now, this wouldn't have been too big of a deal if Sapnap had remembered Punz's advice to not wade in the Ougble River or any rivers joining up to it from the Pastell Mountains because there were some dangerous creatures in the water, but he didn't. I watched, heavily disappointed, as Sapnap started wading across the small stream.

After a couple steps, Sapnap yelled out in pain and hurried back over to the riverbank. He hoisted himself out of the water and laid down in the grass, clutching his leg. When he uncovered it to get a better look at his injury, I floated closer to see it as well. As soon as I saw the bite, I knew it was a kleipo's bite.

The kleipo was a very poisonous kind of fish. It transmitted the poison through its bite, and once you got bit by one, it was hard to get the poison out. Most people that got bit either died or had to have the infected area amputated. Luckily, I was an almost-god, so I could take the poison out of the bite.

"So, what was it you said about not getting into bad situations anymore?"

Sapnap jumped, surprised by my voice that had come out of nowhere. "Oh shut up." he snapped. "I wasn't aware that there'd be a stupid fucking fish in that river that would bite me."

"On the ship Punz told you not to wade into the Ougble River or any streams coming from the Pastell Mountains because there are dangerous fish living in them."

"He did?" Sapnap asked. "All I remember was his survival guide for climbing mountains or whatever."

I sighed. "New advice for you: pay attention when people are telling you how to survive. If you'd actually listened, you wouldn't have gotten yourself in more trouble."

"Well at least it's not too bad." Sapnap said. "All I did was get bitten by a harmless fish."

"I'm pretty sure a kleipo is about as far from a harmless fish as you can get."

Sapnap's eyes widened. "Wait, I got bit by a KLEIPO??" Well, at least he knew what a kleipo was so I wouldn't have to explain it to him.

"Yup." I said.

His face turned pale. "Please tell me you know how to amputate a leg so I don't die."

"You're lucky that your traveling partner is a currently-invisible almost-god and is willing to deal with your shit, even if I means I might get in trouble." I sighed. "Since I'm an almost-god, I can take the poison out of the bite for you. It might hurt, but it's better than dying."
