Tuft trees were the most magical trees Karl had ever seen. Their seafoam green and cyan petal-like leaves fell gently around him, carpeting the grass in a layer of blue-green. They smelled like a strange mix between cherry blossoms and lemongrass, pleasantly sweet but not suffocating. If you saw the forest from above, it would look like there was a giant carpet covering the ground.
While Karl was in awe, walking and looking around at the beautiful trees at the same time, a person (?) stepped out in front of him. They were wearing a white mask over their face, with a slightly creepy black smile painted on it. Besides that, they were just wearing a simple green robe, held to their body with a shiny golden pin.
"Hello." the person (?) spoke, spooking Karl. He jumped and turned his head rapidly until his eyes landed on the mask-wearing stranger.
"Uh- hi? Who are you?"
"I'm Dream." said the stranger. "I'm a forest wisp."
Karl's brows furrowed. "What's a forest wisp? I've never heard of them before."
Dream chuckled. "I'm not surprised. We usually stay hidden. Wisps are spirits attached to a fixed point, or anchor point as we like to call them. Mine is this tree." He touches a tree nearby, and his hand goes through it. "We are a non-physical being, which basically means we can go through things, but unlike most non-physical beings, we are visible. Well, except for our face. That's why the majority of us wear a mask of some sort."
"How did you come to be?" asked Karl. "Do you just . . . exist, or were you created, or-"
"Wisps are usually created by a magician, witch, mage, or enchant-person. I was created by an enchanter named George because he wanted a companion. Unfortunately, he ended up moving away to enchant a grass patch for himself, but he visits sometimes."
"I've met George!"
"How is he?" Dream asked desperately. "I haven't seen him in a long time, and I can't help but worry about him."
"It seems like he's doing well." Karl responded.
Dream relaxed. "Good."
"So," started Karl, "you've said wisp instead of forest wisp a couple times. Are there other wisps besides forest wisps?"
"Oh, yes." Dream answered. "There is a wisp of every environment. Desert wisps, grassland wisps, jungle wisps, mountain wisps, and so on."
"Do you randomly get assigned what kind of wisp you'll be?"
