"My soulmate's on that boat!"
I jumped out of my thoughts at Sapnap's yell. He was standing alone on deck, and he'd been talking to himself for a while now. I'd zoned out after 5 minutes of hearing him rant about how bad green beans taste.
Sapnap was watching a boat (the boat Karl was on, to be specific) pass us, heading out towards the open ocean, where we'd just came from. His hand was on his necklace. There was a brilliant purple light spilling out from between his fingers and wherever his hand wasn't covering the bottle.
A quiet breeze passed us, and Sapnap sighed. "I can't believe I'm this close to my soulmate, yet can't quite reach them." he muttered. "The universe is so fucked up sometimes."
He longingly watched the ship until it had disappeared on the horizen. I could see how much his soulmate running away from him was affecting Sapnap. He looked so tired, so worn down, but still so hopeful. Please Karl, stop running. Your soulmate needs you.
I already knew he wouldn't.

When Sapnap and I got to Star Island, the search for a ship that would take us back east started immediatly. The ship that we were on for our journey here was only going north after this, up to the cold and barren Bat Island.
It was surprisingly hard to find a ship going any further east than Maroon Beach. I guess it should be somewhat expected, as nobody knows much about that region, but I thought there would be at least one ship sailing that way. Finally, Sapnap came across a fishing vessel heading east that was soon to depart and decided to ask the captain if he could come along.
"Uhm, hey." he awkwardly started. "I noticed that you're heading east soon, and I kind of also need to get east. This is the only ship I could find going further east than Maroon Beach, so you're my only option right now."
"Why exactly do you need to go that far east? You do know those lands are dangerous, correct?" the captain asked.
Sapnap nodded. "Yeah, I'm aware. I don't really want to go so far east, but my soulmate is heading that way, and I'm confident they're going to pass Maroon Beach since we just came from there."
"Ah, so you're after your soulmate then."
Sapnap nodded once again. "They've been running away from me for some reason and I've been following the best I can."
