With arrows flying at us from the next hill, creatures closing in from all directions, and magical birds swooping in from above us, I gave Tin Can to Sapnap. He gave me an utterly confused expression in return.

"It's for defense." I told him. "You can use the boat as a shield."

"What about you?" he cried, holding the boat out in front of him.

I went invisible.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot you could do that." Sapnap mumbled.

"Stay safe!" I called as I floated above the 'battle'. Honestly, it was more of a barrage of arrows and animals.

Once I was in the quiet of the clouds, I stopped my slow ascension and started to re-write history.

Meanwhile, the lead commander of the klavieran army, Sirpta, ordered everyone but the archers to move in. Sapnap was currently busy trying to fend off the zuals and arrows, so he hopefully wouldn't notice the troops until it was too late. With Sirpta leading, the klavieres marched down the hill and started up the next.

Zuals were renowned for their magic, but not so much for their ability to swoop down in a pack and demolish the enemy. That was unfortunate, as the zuals were very proud of their swooping abilities that always proved to be deadly. The proudest of them competed in swooping competitions in the fall for a prize of bragging rights and a sack of enough dried berries to last through the winter.

Even though the winner of the last three swooping contests, Mrrdotf, wasn't here (he was busy looking after his partner and their newly-hatched chicks), the zuals were still a force to be reckoned with. That is, until they swooped for the first time and smashed beak-first into a tin boat.

The birds regrouped after that incident to find that 3 of their kind had been killed by smashing into the boat. The zuals were a smart enough species to not try that again, so they resorted to using magic instead. Not everyone was happy with this arrangement, but it was all that could be done in this situation.

When Sapnap spotted the diving birds, he laid on the ground and covered himself with Tin Can, hoping for the best. The sound of hundreds of zuals hitting tin wasn't anywhere near pleasant, but it was better than getting killed by those piercing beaks.

Sapnap laid underneath the boat for about 5 minutes after that first swoop, waiting for it to happen again. It didn't though, so he eventually peaked out from under his 'shield' to find that the zuals were now trying to target him with rays of magic. Fun.
