A/N- Hello Hotties, I'm back! How are we doing after the last chapter? Are we ready to see what happens next? 👀

This is part one of the finale to 'Exile'. There will be some switching POV's, fourth wall breaks, along with some time jumps (not much but you'll see how it implies with the story) Also, did you notice our little face claim? That's right. After writing a whole fucking story I finally decided on a face claim. I feel like Melissa Benoist really just fits Holly the best.

Also, anyone feel like 'Your On Your Own, Kid' fit's Holly like a lot? And Would've, Could've, Should've? Maybe I'm just looking too much into it lol.

Anywho, enough rambling. Enjoy Chapter 20 :)

Chapter 20

"But at the end of the day my happiness comes first, and I'm happy with him. I won't let you push me over to get what you want."

Present Time

It had barely been two hours. Holly checked. Yet, this entire day felt like it was stuck in space, unable to move despite how much Holly wanted it to. She was sitting on the couch with her legs curled into her chest, keeping her eyes glued to the screen in front of her. ELF was on even though it was almost March. Something about it was comforting to Holly though as if it was taking her back to the night when everything was normal. Right before everything changed.

Her fingers tapped together, following along with the melody of the music playing in the background of the movie as her eyes stared into the screen. It didn't matter that her favorite scene was about to come on. Her heart was pounding so fast she couldn't even pay attention to the words that were being spoken, only the melody that followed behind them.

It was now that she wished other people knew about Matt. Because in this very moment it didn't matter how many people she knew, or how many people she had been around that night, she felt so alone that it was painful. She just wanted a hug. She just wanted a fucking good hug. But right now that didn't matter. The clock had passed another minute and Holly was now counting the seconds until it hit sixty. Mirroring the city she lived in, Holly was frantic and Holly was scared, especially after the reports that had just been played on the screen minutes before.

"Fifteen, sixteen, seventeen." Holly paused, counting quieter as her mouth pressed against her knee as she felt a small bed of tears stream down her face and onto her sweatpants. "Twenty-One, Twenty-Two, Twenty-three-"

Just as she was going to continue, the sound of the latch from her window filled her ears, and suddenly the idea of counting left her mind. The tears from her eyes stopped, and so did the panicked feeling that had been filling her mind and body for the past two hours.

Holly's head moved back from the TV, now staring into the room where the source of the sound came from. She quickly shot up from the couch, hearing as the sound grew more frequent, and the sound of a body moving grew closer.
