"Alright Amaya, chin up, shoulders back, and show them who's best." Amaya did as her mother said. She had to be perfect, being the Bridgerton's daughter. "Remember to be put into Slytherin."

"Of course." Amaya would do whatever she could to get into Slytherin.

"Alright, let's go."

"Is dad not coming?"

"You know he's far too busy." Of course he was. Amaya loved her father dearly, but he was never around these days.

Amaya walked by her mums side trying to get through the crowd.

"Walburga! How have you been?" They walked over to her mums friend.

"Hello Clarice, I'm good and hello Amaya dear."

"Hello Mrs. Black, It's good to see you. Hello Sirius."

"Hi." Sirius seemed to be nervous.

The train whistled and the two kids climbed aboard

"Do you want to sit together?" Amaya turned to see that Sirius was already gone. "Oh well."

After finding an empty compartment. Amaya sat down just as the door opened. A girl with long black hair stood there.

"Do you mind if I join you?"

"Not at all." Amaya gave her a warm smile.

"I'm Claire Burrows."

"Amaya Bridgerton." Claire's jaw dropped.

"You mean like the Bridgerton family?" Amaya nodded. "Your dad owns like half of England."

Amaya smiled proudly.

"When I call your name you will come and sit on the stool to be sorted into your houses."

Amaya looked over the faces of her fellow first years. Some looked ready to throw up. She found Sirius who was already looking at her. He looked away quickly, turning red.

"Claire burrows." Claire sat on the stool and the hat was placed on her head.

The hat mumbled for a bit before shouting, "Ravenclaw!" Claire beamed proudly and joined her table.

"Severus Snape." A boy with shoulder length black hair walked up to the stool and sat.

"Slytherin!"

"James Potter." A boy who was standing next to Sirius walked up to the stool like he owned the world.

"Gryffindor!"

"Remus Lupin." The boy named Remus seemed to have quite a bit of scars on his face.

"Gryffindor!" He sat next to the boy named James.

"Peter Pettigrew."

"Gryffindor!"

At this point Amaya became bored and zoned out as others were sorted.

"Sirius Black." Amaya watched Sirius sit on the stool. Amaya was sure he'd be in Slytherin like the rest of his family.

The hat was about to yell something when Sirius interrupted by saying, "Don't you dare."

"Gryffindor!" Amaya was shocked. they had always planned on being in slytherin together.

"Amaya Bridgerton." Amaya walked to the stool with a smile. She could feel everyone's eyes on her. She sat on the stool and the hat was placed on her head.

"Hmmm, difficult. Very kind and giving, also very brave, clever too."

"Slytherin is the only place I am willing to go." Amaya stated simply.

"Slytherin? Very well. Slytherin!" Amaya stood up and walked to the Slytherin table.

instantly people began to whisper.

"No way, it must be a mistake."

"She's probably actually evil."

"How can she be in Slytherin?"

Amaya ignored them all as she sat beside Sirius' cousin Bellatrix.

"Good thing you're not a disappointment like my cousin." Bellatrix said with a snarl.

***

"Slytherin! No way." Sirius was furious. "The hat is wrong."

"What are you getting on about?" James asked.

"I've known her my whole life. She's not Slytherin."

"Clearly she is. Maybe you didn't know her as well as you thought."

Sirius glanced over at the Slytherin table to see Amaya talking. Everyone was staring at her in amazement. The boys seemed to be drooling at her.

Sirius snarled and turned back to his food. 'Who cares? Not me. She can be in Slytherin all she wants.'

"Everyone thought that you would be in Slytherin like the rest of your family."

"I'm not like my family." Sirius said and everyone believed him.

As Sirius left the great hall he heard footsteps following him. Assuming it was James he turned around to be met by a beautiful pair of blue eyes.

"Hey Sirius. Can we talk?" Sirius swallowed and tried to keep a blush from creeping onto his face.

"Sure." They found a bench to sit on and Amaya instantly began talking.

"I thought you were gonna be in Slytherin. We always talked about being in it together to prove that all Slytherin's aren't bad."

"No. You talked about it. I never wanted to be in Slytherin. Slytherin is for the evil witches and wizards. You don't belong there."

"I belong in Slytherin, just as much as I belong in my family." Amaya stood up offended.

"I'm sorry Amaya. Please, let's not start off the year by fighting. Who cares what houses we're in. We're still best friends."

"Forever." They hugged and went to their dorms.
