Chapter 6

Amaya had started to avoid Sirius since the ball. She had to keep her distance or it would be so much harder when she got betrothed. She boarded the train and found an empty compartment away from the one she would usually go in, hoping that she wouldn't run into Sirius.

The door opened and Sirius walked in. "Why have you been avoiding me?"

"What do you mean? I have just been busy."

"Did I do something wrong?" Sirius seemed hurt.

"No. I just can't be around you right now okay."

"Why? I know we have a connection. I felt it and you did too,"

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Don't lie. Why can't you just admit you feel something for me? I like you. I have for a long time, Amaya." Amaya looked away trying not to cry.

"You don't understand. We can't be together."

"Why?! If you feel the same as me why can't we be together?!" Sirius raised his voice.

"Because!" Amaya shouted tears running down her face.

"Because why?" Sirius said a little softer.

"Because I'll be betrothed soon." Amaya whispered. Sirius stared at her in shock.

"What? To who?" Amaya shook her head.

"I don't know."

"Then don't be with him. Tell your parents that you don't want to."

"No. If that's what my dad wants then that's what I'll do."

Sirius was suddenly angry again. "Why?! You're such a goody two shoes. You do whatever you're asked."

"And that's a bad thing?"

"You've done everything they've ever asked. You deserve to be happy."

"Do I not look happy to you? I do whatever my parents ask because they gave me everything. They had to grow up in poor families and they decided that they wouldn't let me. I owe them everything. Just because your parents suck doesn't mean mine do!" Amaya stormed out of the compartment. She was mad. Mad at Sirius, mad at the world, but mostly mad at herself.

As soon as Sirius got home he went straight to his room. He mostly stayed there except when he was hungry or needed the bathroom. A month went by and occasionally he would argue with his mother.

He was laying on his bed reading through a magazine when he heard a crash downstairs.

"Sirius Orion Black! Get down here now!"

'Great, what did I do now?' Sirius dragged himself out of bed and walked down the hall and downstairs.

"What?"

"Why is there stuff all over the hall?"

"How am I supposed to know?"

"Don't talk back to me! Clean it up!" His mother shouted.

"Make Kreacher."

"I will not have you living under my roof if you are going to act like that."

"I never wanted to live here! I only have one reason for being here!" Sirius began shouting back.

"Do not talk to your mother that way, you disappointment!" She yelled, slapping him. She whipped out her wand and pointed it directly at him. "This should teach you a lesson."

All of the color had drained from Sirius' face at this point. "M-Mother-"

"Crucio." Sirius dropped to the floor screaming. It felt as if his inside were being torn apart. She finally stopped after what felt like forever, he was shaking with tears running down his face.

After Sirius was positive that she was gone he got up and went up to his room. He packed his bags as fast as he could. There was no way he could stay any longer.

He walked down the hall and just as he was about to pass Regulus' room the door opened. The two Black brothers stared at each other.

"Stay." "Come." The two said at the same time.

"I can't," They said together.
