Sirius sat in the common room with his friends when an owl landed on his shoulder. He grabbed the letter that was on it and opened it.
'Dear Sirius Black,
This is a request for you to be betrothed to my daughter Amaya.-' Sirius paused reading and just stared at the paper shocked.
"Sirius? Are you okay?" Sirius nodded without looking at his friends. He continued reading. 'If you agree to this you will be betrothed for at least one year. You will be able to get engaged as soon as you wish. The earliest you can marry will be when you graduate from school. If you agree, sign this letter and return it to the owl.
Sincerely, Mr. Bridgerton.'
Sirius stared at the letter trying to process what he just read. A big smile broke out on his face.
"What does the letter say?" James asked.
"N-nothing." Sirius said blushing.
"Just tell me what it says." James tried to grab for the letter but Lily smacked him. "Oww, what was that for?"
"It's his letter and he doesn't have to show anyone." James looked to the ground.
Sirius tucked the letter into his robes and tried to ignore Amaya's stare.
"Hey Lily?" James said suddenly, sounding nervous.
"Hmm?"
"Will you go with me to the next hogsmeade trip?" Lily blushed and laughed.
"I'll go with you if Amaya and Sirius go together."
"What?!" The two said together.
"Please!" James begged.
The two looked at eachother. Of course Sirius wanted to go with her, but what if she didn't like him. She knew how he felt.
"If you want to." Amaya said, pulling Sirius out of his thoughts.
"Sure." He shrugged his shoulders trying to act like he wasn't super excited.
"YES! That means me and Lily are going together!" James jumped around excitedly, while Lily shook her head with a smile on her face.

Lily and Amaya were getting ready together.
"Amaya, I really like James." Amaya looked at Lily with a big smile,
"That's great!"
"I'm going to tell him today."
"Finally. You guys belong together." Lily smiled at that.
They got ready in silence for a bit.
"I like someone." Amaya confessed.
"Really? Wait, is it Sirius?"
"Yes, but I'm scared."
"Why? He definitely likes you back."
"I know."
"You do?"
"He told me last year." Amaya wanted to say more but she couldn't.
"You shouldn't be scared."
After the two were finished getting ready they walked down to the common room to find the boys. Amaya wore a simple t-shirt and some jeans.
Amaya spotted Sirius talking to James. He wore his leather jacket with some ripped jeans and a black shirt. How did he always look so good?
"Hey." Lily said, getting the boys' attention.
"Wow." James said with the biggest smile. He went over to Lily and the two left.
"Ready?" Sirius asked. Amaya nodded and the two walked in silence.
They walked through the streets in hogsmeade.
"Where do you wanna go first?" Sirius asked.
"We can go to honeydukes."
They got to honeydukes and walked through the store. Sirius seemed to be lost in his thoughts so Amaya decided not to talk to him. They spent the day together, each one stealing glances at the other.
The two sat at the three broomsticks sipping on butterbeer.
"Amaya. I think we need to talk. Can we go somewhere?" She was shocked that he hadn't called her Maya. Amaya nodded and they walked outside. They went to the shrieking shack and sat on a rock.
"What did you want to talk about?" Amaya shivered and Sirius wrapped his leather jacket around her shoulders.
"Do you like me back?"
"What?" Amaya was caught off guard at the question.
"Do you like me back?" Sirius repeated staring straight into her eyes.
"I-I don't want to talk about this."
"Fine. We don't have to. Think about it. As soon as you decide, find me." Sirius stood up and handed her a paper. He walked away without looking back.
Amaya unfolded the paper and began to read. "Dad sent him this. He didn't sign."

As Sirius walked away he fought the urge to look back. He walked back to the castle and to his dorm.
Sirius groaned and laid on his bed. He stayed there until dinner. Finally getting the strength to walk he went down to the great hall. His first instinct was to find Amaya. Instantly he spotted her sitting with the other Slytherins.
James was sitting by Lily and the two were talking. Sirius found Remus and Peter. He sat next to them and sighed dramatically. He had to put on a show as usual or they would be suspicious.
The two boys ignored his sigh and continued eating. He sighed again.
"What?" Remus asked, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, nothing." Sirius laid his head down on the table.
"Clearly it's something."
"It's just so exhausting being perfect."
Peter began laughing. "If you're so perfect, why are you single?" A twinge of pain shot through him, but he hid it.
Sitting up he put a huge smirk on his face.
"Oh great you've done it now Peter." Remus said, groaning.
"Of course I'm single. Gotta keep the lady's wanting me."
"I'm sure that's why Amaya's single too." Remus said with a smirk as Sirius' disappeared.
"Whatever." Sirius began eating as his two friends shared a look.
"I was joking. I'm sure she has a different reason."
"Yeah! Plus you are great." Peter added.
"Thanks Pete." Peter smiled and finished eating his pudding.
"Sirius." A soft voice said and Sirius turned. "Can we talk?"
Sirius was terrified. What would she say? "Sure." He stood up and the two walked away in silence.
