"Emma?" Bucky woke to an empty bed and the sun shining through the balcony. He sat up and looked around, "Emma?"

Is that music?

Bucky opened the door to the bedroom and walked down the hallway to the kitchen. He watched Emma from the doorway, humming to a song as she danced around the kitchen. She was baking again. He watched her use her powers from the mind stone to move things around.

"Good morning." Bucky spoke up to get her attention.

Emma spun around and laughed at herself. She was caught dancing and baking. The spoon kept scooping out cookies onto a baking sheet and automatically placed itself in the oven, "Good morning...closer to afternoon really."

She was getting better at controlling the small things with her powers.

Bucky glanced at the clock on the wall. "I don't remember the last time I slept for so long without having a nightmare."

She slowly walked over to him, "Same. I'm making you more cookies. To say thank you for last night. I was going to surprise you with them. The first batch will be done soon."

Bucky leaned against the door frame as he stared at Emma, "You have the most beautiful eyes. They literally have flames glowing through the amber color."

"Yeah, that happens sometimes. I wasn't always like this. That started happening after they experimented with the mind stone on me."

They stood for a heated moment falling deeper in each other's eyes. He slipped his hand in hers, "How's the hand princess?"

"Almost healed. Super soldier serum?"

"Yes."

She held her hand to show him it was almost healed, "I just always thought I was a quick healer." She giggled. "I think by tonight it should be nothing but another scar."

Bucky's heart sunk when he heard those words. He took her hand and kissed her palm. He whispered, "No more scars after this."

"I wish I could make that promise." Her voice was low and sweet. As she placed her other hand on his chest. He lifted his eyes to meet hers.

Bucky took her hand and directed her towards the table. He sat down and pulled her on to his lap, "Emma. I know what it's like to run from Hydra. To have them invading your mind daily. I think when Bruce and Sam get back, you should talk to them. Yesterday scared me. The nightmare, the lake.... I think they can help you out."

That's the second time he's mentioned that she should talk to Sam and Bruce. Emma took the talk as a rejection and that he didn't want to help her anymore. She knew she was too damaged to fix.

Her happy mood quickly changed to sadness. She started to get up from his lap, "Thank you. I'll do that when they return."

"Hey. What just happened?" He could see the flames in her eyes fade and be replaced with distance.
