Bucky took Emma back to her room to rest.
"I'm going to talk to Sam. Maybe work out my nightmare." He kissed her on the forehead. "Rest for a little. When I get back, maybe we can do something together."
She smiled up at him, "What do you have in mind, handsome?"
He laughed, "Get your mind out of the gutter. I was thinking more like a picnic."
"Haha. Okay. I love that idea." She kissed his lips quickly and shoed him off. "Tell Sam, I'll catch up with him later. I want to try talking things out with him."
Bucky brushed her hair back with his metal hand, "I promise to tell him as long as you promise to relax for a little."
"I will. I'm going to read that new book we got in town."
Bucky went off and found Sam in the lounge, "Hey, man." Bucky sat down next to Sam on the sofa.
Sam grinned, "Are you ready to talk now?"
"I think so, but I have to be honest, I'm not sure where to start."
"Well, start with the recent nightmare."
Bucky took a breath and let it out slowly. He stared straight ahead at the wall - picturing what happened in his dream, "I had two."
"Two nightmares?"
"Yeah. I don't think either of them were nightmares. I think they were both - memories."
Sam looked at him but didn't speak a word. He waited on Bucky. Letting him take his time.
"Emma and I were asleep. I remember her rubbing my back and quietly telling me I was okay. I had my head on her chest and I could hear her heartbeat."
Sam sat up, which grabbed Bucky's attention and he looked over at him. Neither one of them said anything. Sam finally broke the silence, "I'm just going to ask. You two were together? In your bed?"
"Yes. It started off innocent. I couldn't sleep. She couldn't sleep. She had a nightmare. I had a nightmare. We found comfort in each other. There's something about her, Sam. Like I've known her forever."
"Tony talked about the serum linking you two."
"Emma told me, but it's something more." Bucky drifted off in thought.
"Okay. Tell me about the first, memory."
Bucky tried to remember, "I'm not sure what was going on. There was this other person with me. Something was wrong and I was yelling for her to get to safety."
"What exactly did you say?"
"Autumn! Autumn run!" Bucky took a breath, "Not in a way that I was chasing her, but more like protecting her."
