Chapter 23

Mission Day

Tony paced in front of the quinjet and waited for the team to pack up the gear they needed for the mission. This mission would be unlike anything else they've done. Wanda and Emma were going in on their own. The rest of the team would be waiting outside for back-up.

Emma gathered some extra weapons to use and shoved them into her vest. Wanda walked over to her and laughed, "I think you have enough."

Emma laughed, "I know. I just want to make sure we are covered. What if something happens while we are in there? I need to make sure you and I get out in one piece."

"Oh, don't worry about me, Emma. You and I are going to walk in there, take out everyone in the compound, grab whatever data we can get our hands on, blow-up the place and get home in time for dinner."

"Wanda, I would like to be home for lunch," Emma teased.

"Come on girl. We got this," Wanda and Emma walked out of the compound and saw Tony waiting.

Emma stood there and stared at him for a moment, "What are you doing?"

"What do you mean?"

"You don't get nervous. Why are you nervous?" Emma demanded to know.

"I'm not. This is me reviewing everything in my mind," Tony walked away to talk to Bruce.

Emma looked over at Wanda, "He's fine. Nothing about the mission," Wanda assured her after reading his mind.

The entire team boarded the jet and took their seats, "Remember to buckle up!" Bruce yelled from the cockpit with Tony to his right.

As soon as they were in the air Tony unbuckled and walked to the back of the plane, "Okay, I'm sure you girls will be just fine in the building. However, if something goes wrong, call a code green. This is a big base. You might need help."

Emma smiled at Wanda, "I think we got this. Wanda taught me some new things."

Bucky gave Emma a look asking what she was talking about. Emma smiled at him and leaned over to him, "Don't worry. I'll be fine."

As Bruce landed the plane a safe distance from the Hydra base everyone stood up and grabbed what they needed. Wanda and Emma walked off the back of the plane joking with each other about what dinner might be.

Wanda smiled, "I hope it's pizza."

"Oh, I could go for some pizza. Even maybe Chinese food."

Steve looked over to them, "Ladies. You both seem to be very relaxed about this mission."

"We got this. Ready?" Emma gave him a smirk.

"I'm ready," he looked back at the rest of the team, and they signaled they were ready. They took their places within the tree lined area and watched the base for a few minutes.

"Emma," Bucky whispered her name.

She walked over to him, "I'm sorry, again."

"I know. You don't have to worry," she ran her hand through his hair and kissed him softly on the lips, "We'll be home before you know it."

Emma heard Nat, "Girls, I think it's time to shine."

Wanda and Emma looked at each other and gave each other this wicked smile. The team waited where they were as they watched Wanda and Emma walk out of the woods. They walked towards the compound with a confidence no one on the team had ever seen before. Side-by-side they walked right out of the woods and toward the Hydra men guiding the building.
