Chapter 3
Team members started to settle around the table in the conference room of the compound. Steve sat down next to Natasha as Sam walked in and took a seat next to Wanda. Clint and Bruce walked in together and stood in the back of the room. Tony paced at the front of the room in front of a monitor.
Tony finally stopped and turned towards everyone, "Where's the old man?"
As his sentence finished Bucky walked into the room with an angry stare on his face. He sat down without saying a word.
"Great now that we are all here." Tony paused and looked at Nat. "I have something to discuss with everyone."
The team heard the seriousness in his voice. Steve sat up, "What is it, Tony?"
"I might have a possible new recruit."
Wanda was excited, "Please tell me it's another girl."
Nat leaned across the table and smiled, "It is."
"Ladies." Sam interjected. "Let Tony finish."
Tony smiled, "Yes, it's another girl. Her name is Emma Volkov."
"Did Nick send her?" Bruce asked.
Tony started pacing again, "No." He stopped and faced them again, "She's a Hydra run away."
Everyone in the room all started to moan and mumble under their breath. Everyone except Natasha and Tony.
Bucky stood up, "Tony you're only asking for trouble."
Tony knew he was right, "Listen to me for a moment. She ran from Hydra. She's been on her own for eight years."
"Where's she been for the last eight years?" Clint wanted to know.
"She said she's been on the move so Hydra wouldn't catch up with her."
Nat swiveled in her chair to face Tony, "Did you say Volkov? She's Russian?"
Tony swallowed hard, "Yes." He looked at everyone in the room, "I'm asking you to give her a chance."
"A chance Tony? That's a tall order. Do you even know anything about her?" Bucky raised his voice.
"I had Jarvis do a check. Nothing. She's like a ghost." Tony told them. "I don't know what it is, but I feel like I have to help her."
Steve stood up, "Tony are you sure about this?"
"Time will tell. Look at Natasha and Bucky...they came around." Tony informed him.
Steve put his hands on his hips, "I'm okay with Emma staying here."
Tony smiled, "Thank you, Steve. What about the rest of you?"
"I already met her, and I totally want her to stay." Nat smiled.
