The party was in the Gryffindor common room so Natasha couldn't ignore it. She was dragged down the stairs by Marlene and Sophie.
She walked straight to the drink section and Remus Lupin came up next to her "so she came" he smirked
"Im only here for the free drinks" she poured herself a cup turning to look at the crowd of people "why is there even a party right now ?"
"They're using the excuse of 'its back to school' but it's actually a 'Dumbledore and McGonagall are away so we're going to throw a party' thing"
Nat giggled "how cool" she said sarcastically sipping her drink
Remus shook his head "you don't fit into society well ?" Natasha shook her head "me neither. James and Sirius do"
"How do you get along then ?"
"We balance one another out. See" he pointed at Sirius. He was flirting with two different girls while cackling and attempting to dance "he's the player who's actually quite sweet" he then pointed to Peter who was sitting on the sofa awkwardly talking to others "socially awkward who hates being put out of his comfort zone" he then pointed at James. He was playing beer pong with a group of boys "he's the golden retriever. About a million girls fancy him but he's too busy trying to balance on his broom"
She nodded "right. Sounds like a cool friendship group"
"Explain me yours"
She pointed to Sophie "Sophie. Smart but dumb" she thought for a second "and that's it, she's my girl"
"You surely must like other students" Remus insisted
"I like Ted Tonks. He's cool" she shrugged "we've been friends for years though doesn't count as a school friend"
"Right. Well know you have another friend" he fluttered his eyelashes
She opened her eyes wide "are you joking ? The Remus Lupin ? I'm going to faint" they both snorted at one another.

Natasha sat on the sofa observing the kids walk past her. Let's go through them. There were the first years trying to fit in but where then kicked out, bless their little hearts. The third year 'it' girls trying to flirt with the fifth year boys, gross. The fifth years mostly having a fun time trying not to cry over OWLS stress. Sixth years just keeping to themselves as they always do. And finally the seventh years, they were as childish as the third years.
Natasha genuinely thought she was better then everyone there. She wanted to actually work on her life, and before you think she was a snobby girl who didn't know anything she really did. She's been the background character her whole life. In the family photos, in class well except potions and defence against the dark arts. Slughorn adored the blonde. She realistically was always watching.
