JULIA

I saw him. I saw him looking at me. I smiled and he smiled back.

One step forward, and another. On a red carpet...with petals of flowers... I walked. I am walking the aisle down.

I stopped and he smiled again. He reached for my hand and I gave it to him. And there, he walked with me towards my seat.

As I took another step, I passed through him. He's staring...just staring...that gaze...those eyes...that never felt different.

8 weeks earlier

"Annyeonghaseyo!" paalam sa akin ng secretary ko.

"De, Eun Sang-ssi. Mom geon-ganghae!" sabi ko naman. It means "Take Care!". Lumabas na siya ng office ko. Tumayo ako at kumuha ng newly-brewed na kape. I sat down again. Binuksan ko ang drawer at kinuha ang plane ticket na nakatago dito. Ininom ko ang kape at nakatulala lang sa ticket. Haisst. Ano bang gagawin ko dito?

Bigla namang may kumatok. Napatingin ako sa labas. Glass walled kasi ang office ko, so I can see everything from the outside. Si Shai lang pala. Kasama niya si Liza. Kaibigan at housemate namin dito ni Shai.

"Wag masyado workaholic please!" naunang pumasok si Liza. Architect din siya, parehas ni Shai. Nasa iisang kompanya lang kaming tatlo.

"I'm not really working, at the moment..." rason ko naman sabay taas ng kape ko to prove to them.

"Well, well. You were hardly working...5 minutes ago" sabat naman ni Shai. Saka sila umupo sa harap ng table ko.

"Ano ba yan?" nakatingin si Liza sa hawak kong envelope.

"The break to Guam?" - Shai.

I nodded.

"Ay kalerks! Ano na ang plano mo?"

"I don't feel like going eh. Gusto mo ba?" I presented Shai the ticket which she gave back to me.

"Sira ulo ka ba?" hirit ni Liza.

"Juls, anim na taon ka nang nabubulok dito sa Korea. Kung uuwi ka naman ng Pinas, tig-dadalawang linggo lang. Hindi ka pa ba nagsasawa makita ang mga tao dito with very weird fashion styles at nakakatakot na mga kagagagwapong mukha dahil baka they went under plastic surgery?" Napatawa naman ako ng mahina. Yes, anim na taon na since I decided to be here. Natanggap ako mula sa sinubmit kong resume kay Shai dati which she hid from me dahil nga I was going to be married...well, basta ganun.

After working my butt off for 6 long years, I am now the department head of the whole interior designing department. I'm on top of my game. I achieved everything I wanted to get since I was young. I am busier than ever that I am not having time for myself, anymore.
