(Here's a fact. I'm sick)

Piper knew  suspiciously a lot about the enemy, giving Thea the hint that Aphrodite had broken the laws of Zeus as well as other gods and goddesses. Thea couldn't blame any of them. Rules should allow you to help your child, not force you to watch every one of them die.

"Gaia?" Leo shook his head once she finished explaining. "Isn't that Mother Nature? She's supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry."

"Isn't that Snow White?" asked Ally.

"Pretty sure, yeah," Thea agreed.

"Okay, but -"

"Listen, cupcake." Coach Hedge dabbed the espresso out of his goatee. "Piper's telling us some serious stuff, here. Gaia's no softie. I'm not even sure I could take her."

Leo whistled. "Really?"

"I'm sure you could," Thea argued, knowing just how to enlarge the Satyr's ego.

Hedge nodded, a proud smile on his face. "I appreciate it, Goldie. Here's  the problem. This earth lady - she and her old man the sky were nasty customers."

"Ouranos," Piper said. Thea could see her turning to the window and staring up at the sky. Maybe she was imagining eyes in the sky, or maybe she was just thinking how absurd this all sounded. Went from a "criminal" to a demigod on a quest in less than a week.

"Right," Hedge said. "So Ouranos, he's not the best dad. He throws their first kids, the Cyclopes, into Tartarus. That makes Gaia mad, but she bides her time. Then they have another set of kids - the twelve Titans - and Gaia is afraid they'll get thrown into prison, too. So she goes up to her son Kronos -"

Thea stiffened at the name. Too many memories and death had been haunting her and her brother because of him. Not just people they knew. Imagine walking down the streets of Manhattan in a war and feeling a bunch of dead spirits following you everywhere. They hadn't stopped before Lilith's death. The one that hurt the most and the one spirit Thea would've allowed to haunt her forever.

"The big bad dude," Leo said, not noticing Thea's reaction. "The one they defeated last summer."

"Yeah," Thea agreed, taking a deep breath. "And then our dearest mother nature gives him the scythe, and tells him,
"Hey, why don't I call your dad down here? And while he's talking to me, distracted, you can cut him to pieces. Then you can take over the world. Wouldn't that be great?""

Nobody said anything. Thea felt a hand grab hers under the table. She didn't have to see to know who it was. She just took the comfort and enjoyed the sense of warmth it was bringing.
