Thea knew she was dreaming when she opened her eyes and was surrounded by people. Ally Beaumont was standing in the far-off corner of what Thea sooner realised to be Zeus's cabin, not saying a word. Jason Grace was equally as quiet, though he seemed more restless than the other girl. But it wasn't quiet in the cabin.
No, three voices were mixed together in conversation. Three voices Thea knew all too well.
"She should've been back by now," said Marielle, her hand tapping against the wall as they looked around the cabin, her eyes passing over Thea without realising. "She promised." Next to the daughter of Ares, River Altwat was standing, a look of concern on their face. Thea couldn't place why.
"Is she usually one to follow up with such promises?" asked Piper, pacing around while trying her best not to hit Leo every time she turned from one side of the room to the other.
Marielle hesitated, eyes zeroing in on Thea's spot, almost as if she knew she was there, but then she looked away again. "She always tries," the blonde shrugged, "but I just have the feeling that something has really happened this time."
"Like what?" Leo asked, sitting down next to Jason. "Do you think she's hurt? Monster attack? Where did she go again?"
"To San Francisco," said Piper, "checking up on her house there. But that shouldn't have taken this long, right? She shouldn't have been gone for such a long time. What if she's been kidnapped? What if she's..." the brunette trailed off, but the rest of her sentence was easy to guess.
Marielle shook her head again. "Thea knows how to handle herself. She would know better than that. I just... I have this feeling. Something is wrong. Iris messages won't go through. They always do. And Nico won't answer me either."
"Do you think they were together?" Asked Jason.
"It's possible."
Thea tried to move over to her best friend. She wanted to tell Marielle she was fine. She would be back. Maybe Thea would even make another promise she knew would be hard to keep. It was obvious they were talking about her, and if they thought she was meant to be back, it meant that she had been in Tartarus for much longer than it had felt. But not only that, it also meant that Nico hadn't gotten back to camp yet, even though she told him to. Maybe Hades kids just weren't meant to obey each other.
Just as the thought passed her mind, the door to cabin 1 was opened abruptly. Will Solace, the head healer of camp and a son of Apollo, was standing there, a frown on his face. "You told me to tell you if I got any news," he said, looking right at Marielle. "Nico just appeared."
