Chapter two
(The gif is really not the best one for this chapter, but it was the first I found and I'm lazy)

As usual, Thea had been wrong.
The dream was different from how it looked in real life.
In the dream, the pit was just a silent darkness that seemed like it would rather shove her off the empire state building than eat her alive. This pit was not the same.
The daughter of Hades made sure not to get too close, and made sure Nico was behind her as well. She'd be damned if he fell on her watch. She was the oldest. It was her responsibility that both of them made it out alive. And if all went to shits, at least Nico would make it.
"I'm getting an awful sense of Deja Vú," Nico said carefully, his sword drawn as he watched his sister's every move. He had a terrible feeling. A feeling that this would not end well in any way. It would go wrong, he just knew it.
Thea took a moment to register his words as they echoed in the huge cavern until it eventually died in the pit. "So am I," Thea muttered, taking a step back. "I have been here in my dreams." She took a moment to move to more stable ground. "But, everything looked so different then."
"I don't think we should be here." Nico's words didn't echo this time. In fact, Thea barely even heard them. She nodded in agreement. If the door was in there, they couldn't do anything about it. A fall in Tartarus didn't have a decent chance of survival. If she fell here, she would never get out.
"Thea!" The daughter of Hades didn't understand the urgency in her brother's tone until she turned back to the pit. It was expanding. She sped up towards Nico who was waiting for her by the tunnel leading into the cavern. The distressed look on his face fit perfectly with the panic Thea felt. She tried to speed up, but no matter how hard she tried, it was as if something was holding her back. As if something was pulling her in. Nico was getting closer and she couldn't help being relieved when she reached for his hand.
The relief didn't last long, however.
Thea had celebrated too early. She hadn't gotten off the cavern floor when it suddenly disappeared beneath her. Nico's grip on her hand tightened as he fell to the floor. Thea could feel her breath quicken as she held onto her younger brother's hand. One wrong move and she would be falling. Falling down the endless pit. Falling into Tartarus.
But she knew she didn't have a chance. The pit worked like a vacuum. It would take her no matter what. If she didn't fall soon, she would end up bringing Nico down with her. She wasn't sure if she could ever forgive herself. Not after everything Nico had already been through.
She almost wanted to laugh. After the luck she'd had on her quest back during the winter, she'd thought the child of Hades curse had faded. But it hadn't. It had all been just a joke. Another twisted game led by the fates.
