They spiralled through the dark in a free fall, still on the dragon's back, but Festus's hide was cold. His ruby eyes were dim.

"Not again!" Leo yelled. "You can't fall again!"

Thea could barely hold on. The wind stung her eyes. In the front she could barely see Leo trying to fix it. He managed to pull open the panel on the dragon's neck. He toggled the switches. He tugged the wires. The dragon's wings flapped once.
Thea understood. The dragon had done the best, but there wasn't enough time

She saw the lights of a city below them - just flashes in the dark as they plummeted in circles. They had only seconds before they crashed.

"Jason!" Leo screamed. "Take the girls and fly out of here!"

"What?"

"We need to lighten the load! I might be able to reboot Festus, but he's carrying too much weight!"

"Leonardo, this isn't the time to-"

"Just go, Dora."

"What about you?" Piper cried. "If you can't reboot him-"

"I'll be fine," Leo yelled. "Just follow me to the ground. Go!"

Jason grabbed Piper and Thea around the waist, while Thea took Ally. She had no idea how Jason managed to take them all, but it seemed to be easier for him now that it wasn't snowing and the winds were not against him.

They could see Festus and Leo below, one of them trying desperately to save the other.

"We have to get down there! He'll need our help!" Thea screamed, and Jason listened.
They flew just away from the dragon, wanting to keep an eye on the boy, but still respect his wishes of not getting hurt.

"We need to get closer! I have a bad feeling about this place, but we need to follow him!"

The daughter of Hades  seemed to be the only one able to even talk in the air. Jason seemed to be struggling, and if Thea hadn't already been drained she would've helped him out.

There was a big river close by, but it was too far off from where Leo was directing the Dragon. But he seemed to think that wasn't a good choice, something Thea agreed with.

Then they flew by a mansion with a huge snowy lawn inside a tall brick perimeter fence - like some rich person's private compound, all of it blazing with light. It would make a perfect landing field. Leo had matched her thought and did his best to steer the dragon towards it.

It seemed to work, and Thea almost cheered as Festus seemed to come online again.

Then everything went wrong. As Festus and Leo approached the lawn, spotlights along the fence fixed on them. Lazers seemed to come out of nowhere, cutting the dragon up, and then BOOM.
