Spencer held one finger to his lips, and shhhed at Lexie, who had just emerged from Garcia's office with the intention of doing something, anything, before the whole place went up in flames.
Her eyes went wide, and she watched as he ran for the door, and even as she started to move herself she knew it was too late and there was nothing she could do but watch.
Watch as the glass doors swung inward as Reid ran through them.
As the eyes of everyone in the team fell upon him.
As Elle and Spencer's eyes locked.
As Elle's face split open into a scream of terror the second Seaver turned round.
Reid grabbed her and tackled her to the ground, and together they went crashing out into the hallway.
The bottle of gasoline and the match both slipped from Seaver's hand, hitting the floor and a flame erupted, shattering the glass doors, with such great force everyone else was also sent flying back.
Elle picked her self up, a loud buzzing echoing in her head. The hallway had ignited, and the heat was radiating through.
"SPENCER!" Elle screamed, and started to run towards the fire.
Rossi grabbed her, and pulled her back. "Elle this room is still full of gasoline, we have to go."
"Everyone in the conference room, now!" He shouted to the rest of the team.
Emily ran forward, grabbing Elle's other arm.
"NO! NO DON'T YOU DARE! I CAN SAVE HIM! I JUST-" She was shouting, crying, punching and kicking Rossi and Emily as they pulled her away.
"SPENCE!" She screamed again, as though he was about to walk out of the flames.
"Elle come on! Don't make it all for nothing!" Emily cried out, as finally her and Rossi got her moving, up the stairs and into the conference room, dragging her as she continued to kick and scream. It was only a matter of seconds before the whole bullpen was up in flames as they slammed the door behind them.
Her legs gave out and she fell to her knees, taking gasping breaths inwards as she sobbed.
"Help me move this table." Rossi shouted to the room in general.
Everyone stared vacantly at him.
"NOW!"
They moved forward and shoved the table, even though time was moving too fast and too slow, even though nobody was quite comprehending what was happening.
Rossi dropped to his knees and pulled up a floorboard.
There was a hook, buried into the cement, three harnesses, and a brick.
"Cover your eyes." He said grimly. He picked up a brick, and hurled it at the window, which shattered.
"Amelia, Addison, Elle. Let's go." Rossi commanded.
"We can help, if people get hurt-" Amelia started.
"You're civilians, you go first." Rossi said. "We don't have time to argue."
Silent and subdued, Amelia and Addison climbed into the harnesses, and Rossi strapped them in.
Emily and JJ were guiding Elle into a harness, as she stared distantly. "Don't make me leave him..." she murmured.
"This was put in as an absolute emergency measure, which we hoped to never use." Rossi said. "But essentially, run and jump. The rope will catch you about a metre off the ground. Then unhook, and drop to the floor. Step out the harness, hook it to the rope, and we'll pull it back up." He explained urgently.
